Zoukout!

I have never attended one before so when I was offered tickets through a 24seven /Citibank project, I said yes. As some of my readers may know, I’m not into clubbing (give me a rock concert anytime) but I find some things are worth experiencing :)

I don't have my SLR camera with me (it’s at boyfriend’s house) so the LOTD (or rather Look of the Night) shots via my Mac’s Photobooth. As far as makeup goes, my keywords for the night were Long-lasting and Waterproof.

Majority of the stuff I used were things that I incorporate in my work day routine, probably due to the long-lasting factor.

The picture is so noisy, eww :( I'm missing my camera already.

I went for a brown smokey eye because I wear this combination to work often and even if the liner fades, it still tends to look okay. Certain looks, especially a dark smokey eye, with faded liner would just look off.

As for the lips, I didn’t bother much since it would wear off anyway and I didn’t want to use lip stains. If you’re interested to know, I left the house with Maybelline’s Water Shine Pure in Naturals 101 (looks like this).

To some it may seem weird to still fuss with makeup for a beach party but most of the girls I’ve seen there have on makeup, false lashes and the works. Zoukout is not your typical beach party!

I brought the boyfriend along with me and he had been to Zoukout before so he does have some experience with it. We took the Sentosa Monorail in and boy was it packed! It’s worst then the peak hour on MRT trains here.

As we went under Citibank we were allowed access to their Marquee in Zouk, which turned out to be such a life saver. If you are a Citi Clear Platinum Card holder you’ll be allowed in as well.

Met up and mingled with the other bloggers who were there while we enjoyed about an hour of free-flow drinks (till 10pm).

There was a 'photo booth' stationed within Citibank and you could get your photos taken by their photographers and have it printed out on the spot. Click to enlarge!

Why I say the Citibank Marquee is a lifesaver?

So thankfully we were able to seek some refuge in here, away from the crowd.

Close to about 3am, before Tiesto went on stage, there was a display of fireworks while boyfriend and I were braving the crowd at the main stage. I tried taking photos but figured a video would be the best so here you go, beautiful fireworks, mad crowd and overuse of peace sign -- all in one video!

p.s. Turn your volume down, the video is quite loud.

The initial plan was to stay till Guetta but the reality was that we left the event around 4 plus, JUST before Guetta played. We were too hungry and tired to stay, even for Guetta.

In all, it was some experience and I’ve taken away some important things to note if I intend to head for another Zoukout event.

• Phone reception there is horrible. Messages are delayed, phone calls don’t make it and no data connection
• People pee on grass. The toilet queues can get crazy so guys take the short way out and pee at isolated corners of a grass patch.

Mmm and that would be it for new things I’ve learnt from that night. Everything else was the expected – crowded, drinks would be watered down (and expensive), hot, toilet gets nasty. You get the idea. Though in all that 'nastiness', it was a great experience and I had fun.

Side-note: Makeup lasted well the entire night, no oil blotting or touching up and yet still looks as such in the photos!
