And no I don't mean the band (Bright Eyes).
I've finally found a chance to play with the Maquillage palette that I had been given to try out. Click here to see swatches and check out the other Maquillage products I was sent to
I will do a singular product review entries to sum up what I feel about each product etc and they will be things I have pointed out with these LOTD entries; mainly for the eyeshadow palette since you can't exactly review eyeshadow, unless you show how it looks on. I'll try to do a couple more looks using the palette in different ways and introduce the other (lip) products too.
❧
For this LOTD I kept the eye look real simple and thoughtless - I followed the instructions on the back of the box
Incase you need a reference of the numbers and colors again, here's how the palette looks and the palette color combo I have is BE763
I know, I know, following the instructions on the packaging, how boring!
I'll get to the self-conjured looks in following LOTDs featuring this product but for now I wanted to see what sort of a look Maquillage was promoting with their back-of-the-box instructions - that noone I know usually takes a second look at (correct me if I'm wrong...).
The instructions say to use that green cream shadow (bottom right of the palette) as a liner, and I tried to but in end I gave up and pulled out my MAC Powerpoint liner in Engraved - solely to line the upper lid. I did use the green cream shadow on my lower lashline (half of the way in).
Purely because lining my upper lids with that cream shadow was just not dark in enough for me.
Here's my take on the box-instructions look:
I raraly take both with and without flash comparison pictures but for the purpose of this eyeshadow I felt I should. Why? Because it has such a pretty reflective sheen that I figured it might be one of those 'better in flash' or bright light scenario sort of a product. What do you think?

Incase you didn't catch that, the items highlighted in this color are the Maquillage products I had been given to try out.
From that one glance it is plain to see that the eyeshadows are not extremely color-pigmented. Although, I have snooped around swatches of Maquillage's other palettes and it seems the payoff is better in some others. Check out Iris's (RougeDeluxe) swatches of the palettes available here.
My verdict on this is that these colors provide a very nice sheen and brightening effect to your eyes, if you're into that. Think Japanese makeup we all see in magazines or neoprint machines (or Japanese photo booths, as some people call it). It's a neutral eye, with a hint of color that you can't quite place a finger on, yet still lends that brightening effect.
Because of the shimmer (not glitter!) the shadows have packed in them, they provide this dimensional look that, at angles, makes the shadows appear darker.
I'm not a huge fan of such light looks, but if you're going for that effect this does it.
And you know how guys are often saying how they like light and neutral looks (or that occasional no makeup at all comment)? I wore this look the other day and my boyfriend appoved of it. He is often pointing at Jap magazines and saying how I should wear light looks like that compared to my usual (and not even that dramatic!) looks.
Guys....

I do have more to talk about regarding the eyeshadows etc but I'll leave that to upcoming Maquillage entries, else it'll be so much at one go.
Really quickly... regarding the brow wax, I had initially stored this aside for when I go lighter in hair color, but seeing as Chantana (everbluec) had worn it and it looked okay with dark hair, I tried it out. I'm quite shocked that it looks fine with my hair shade seeing as how it looks so golden on the applicator. The photos explain it all, but I'll talk about this product more in it's individual glory.
Thank you all for reading!

Yes, agree that this palatte the colors wasn't as deep/intense as the others.. but it does make the eyes look brighter... I guess was the 3D glitters(???)
The brow wax was surprising right... it doesn't look as golden as it was in the tube!
