Photoshop fun - If I colored my hair blonde...

By icyabstract · December 26, 2010 · 26 Comments ·

Now this 100% just for fun.

I've been debating on color my hair blonde for the longst time ever, but it's not a color I can do on my own (I don't trust myself when it comes to bleaching). When done at salons it costs a hefty sum for hair my length, not to mention the pain of the bleach.

So... I've come to talk myself out of getting blonde hair, though I don't mind a light Milk Tea hair color!

For the fun of it, I roughly photoshopped myself with blonde hair just to see how it would go. The color and all isn't photoshopped perfectly as it can be tricky to turn a brunette blonde and have it still look 'natural', but just a rough idea:

Just for the hell of it, what do you guys honestly think? Not exactly this blonde since it's a bit... bright/ashy/unnatural but you know what I mean. Also, the fear of having the blonde come out too yellow when I color my hair is something I'm thinking about.

Blonde just seems like a troublesome color to get right, yet something interesting to try.

Not to worry I still love auburn but coloring my hair blonde is always in the back of my mind, no matter how much I try to dissuade myself. It's almost as if I'm teling myself I do it at least once in my life, should I?

I think you look great with blond hair! Well, actually you look great with any kind of hair.... Smiling

I think that's quite nice, not as 'shocking' as I thought.. but maintaining it in that exact shade of blonde would be an expensive nightmare, no?

amyrleex: Haha yeah I like the brightening factor too but that would mean I might need stronger makeup or else without makeup I'd look wash out with blonde hair! haha.

Thomas Gantz: Aha, except black hair! Haha, well at least in my opinion, black hair makes me look chubby

the makeup blogette & MissJology: Yes it'll be super super ex! Not to mention the touching up would be painful to go through again, hence probably something I'd try only once in my life. If I do end up loving it I'd go back to it sometime down the road if there's an occasion to. haha

elizaheartyou: haha same here, I do like Auburn, it's a safe color for me and you're right, with photoshop you can adjust the tones but when doing the real thing it's not in my control so it's kinda scary! Blonde can come out wrong in so many ways!

I think blonde looks good on you. Why not just give it a try? If you really don't like it then you can still go back to auburn. If you dyed black then it'll be difficult to change to a lighter color.

haha! I know you want people to talk to you out of it, but truth be told. I actually think it looks really great on you! Take a chance and do it! If you regret it, know that you can always dye it back and if you end up liking it, yay! go for it!Smiling Maybe bring a photo of it to the hair person and maybe you could somehow replicate the effect? It seems like a lot of highlights would do good for a good blond effect:) Hope it all goes well for you babe! xx

You look different, in a good way Smiling Why not give it a try for 2011? The change is not permanent in case you don't like it.

AutumnCandy: Yeap that's true... If it doesn't work out I guess I could always color over but I'm just worried about the damage if it doesn't look good, all that damage for nothing~ haha.

tammytew: ooh yes you've just reminded me about one very important thing, highlights! One solid shade of blonde isn't going to work, it'll look strange! haha

icefrost: That's true, a new look in the new year. Laughing out loud

nadia aka nadnut: Aha, thank you babe

HelloFashion: Indeed, dying it a brown after would result in a pretty and light shade, kind of excited over the after effect more then the actual blonde, lol

everbluec: Yeah, and the trouble I'l have to go through to get it touched up and all. Don't think I'll keep blonde for long if I color it that.

roseannetangrs: Oh yes I can't imagine how platinum blonde would look on me, I'm not super fair but it'll probably just blend right in with my skin. Lol

Ct Kathy: Thanks (: I do prefer auburn too.

TiffanyDpolaris: I've not gone like super blonde, the lightest would be a strawberry blonde but even that wasn't that bright of a color though I did quite like that one! Hmm yeah, I'm definitely not going platinum! haha.

But blonde hair is so difficult to maintain. Like when your roots grow out.. It's damn ugly!

Anonymous: Oh yes, true that! Especially since it's blonde it'll be super obvious.

I totally get what you mean about the trying once in a lifetime thing. I always feel like changing up my hair colour and so a couple months back I took the plunge and got my hair bleached at the salon i regularly go to. I was actually planning on getting the ombre look but my hair stylist is kind of conservative and didn't understand why I would want to look like i have roots (I showed him pictures of celebs with ombre hair.) I figured I'd just let the hair grow out and try to blend the roots and bleached parts together.

My hair's about shoulder length and it cost $200! Shocked My hairstylist said my hair's too fine so he recommended using an ammonia free bleach and also not to go too light the first time. It turned out to be this orangey yellow colour (not as bad as it sounds but also not what I was expecting).

I really wanted more of a ash blonde, but to get that you have to bleach it really light to get rid of the brassiness and yellow. I resisted for about a month before getting a diy box bleach/colour. It lightened the bleached hair and also removed quite abit of the orange but still no where near ashy. I had some roots then so now (abt 3-4 months since first bleaching) I've got a golden colour for the better part of my hair and about a cm of tranisitionish bronze hair and abt a cm of black roots. I'm still thinking of ombreing it Smiling

About the pain of bleaching, the bleach my hair stylist used was really quite gentle.. didn't burn at all but wasn't the most comfortable feeling either though and my hair texture didn't get too damaged. The box dye was from revlon's new line (the ammonia free one for colouring dark hair). That one burned like hell! I'm not sure if it's cause i may have scratched my scalp by accident but I could barely keep it on for the recommend amt of time.

Sorry for the long comment. I just wanted to share abit of my experience. Hope it helps!

zandre: Wow, thank you for your comment and don't worry about the length of it (: I checked out ombre hair colors due to your comment and they are quite interesting! I guess I'll be thinking about this option for a little while since it seems like a slightly permanent decision. Even if I do color over the blonde, it will fade in future and create two-toned hair so... yeah gotta think about it.

I think it looks amazing! I too am naturally brunette and always contemplated going blonde. Do you think you could photoshop a pic of me to look blonde so I can see what it would look like?
