Review: Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Face Wash

By icyabstract · August 12, 2010 · 6 Comments ·

This is a review of the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Wash. I abbreviated the term in the title so that it does not omit the Face Wash part of the onsugar tracker; Plus I'm sure you all have a rough idea of what SHA would stand for, else I have expanded in the previous sentence.

I was provided the Face Wash by fr3b.com to review, along with the Hydration Lotion that I had talked about earlier.

I have briefly elaborated on the skincare benefits of Super Hyaluronic Acid, which is the key ingredient present in this line and this product. I shall not repeat that in this entry so if you interested to find out about it, check out the little break-down of SHA here.

For me, a face wash was always just a face wash. As long as my face felt clean afterwards, the job is done and it works. But after having used this for over 2 weeks, I can safely say that I might have finally found a favorite face wash.

Let me start by explaining the texture of this product. It's not a typical cream nor is it a gel, it's almost like a mix between both consistencies.

This product lathers quite well and you don't need a whole lot to lather it up, but the lather is not foamy. It does not become a bubbly foamy mass on your hands but instead remains slightly creamy, yet lathered? Sounds hard to describe, but the texture of this product was one thing that seemed interesting to me.

Thank you to the boyfriend for being a hand model while I shot.

What Do I Think of It?
I used to think that for a cleanser to be effective it had to deeply cleanse the skin, leaving it squeaky clean (ala Neutrogena Deep Clean). First time I used this my first impression was that it was quite mild but after towel drying my face I was surprised at how fresh and clean my skin felt. The big plus is that my skin felt hydrated at the same time, instead of the typical "I need moisturizer" state after cleansing. This cleanser is mild yet effective and I preferred to use this versus my other cleansers during my downtime from the aesthetic beauty treatments. One 'down-side' to this is I'm a big fragrance person and since Hada Labo preaches not using fragrances, this literally smells like the raw ingredients used. It's not a bad smell nor is it strong, it does not linger on your face at all, but I just prefer my things scented. Though it's nice to know you're using something free from all that additives on your skin.

This retails for at S$12.90 for 100gm at Watsons.

Overall Rating: Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction / High Distinction
Would I re-purchase this? Yes, until I find something that works exactly the same, with a scent. heh.

I will probably try Hada Labo's face wash when I am out of my current faced wash, but it takes ages and ages and ages to finish 1 tube of facewash. Will wait nevertheless to see how long I can tahan.

Nice review! I've been wanting to give this a try to compare with Aqua Label's moist wash (since Aqua Label has got this hint of rose scent and Hada Labo is fragrance free) but I still have a few cleansers in use and cleansers just takes ages to finish for me Sad hee I love scented cleansers too as long as it doesn't irritate my skin Smiling

amyrleex: No problem (: I'm guessing since this is made to also cater to sensitive skin it should work fine? But I can't be too sure of course.

redberried: No problem! Yeap it surely is affordable!

MariAsh: Haha exactly, facewash does take super long to go through! And I always sidetrack and look into new face washes so I have a couple lying around but I'm probably repurchasing this one when I run out.

AutumnCandy: Ooh maybe you can ask Chantana. I think she's tried both the Aqua Label and Hada Labo one. I haven't tried Aqua Label but have heard good things about it.
