This would be another one of those times where a haul goes unmentioned and swept under the rug for a little while. Though this is completely unintentional, of course.
When word of the MAC Lips and Tips collection came out, visually it was interesting to have match-y nails and lips and the promo visuals were gorgeous but I didn't feel like I was going to haul a whole lot from that collection. And truth be told, I didn't, but I did end up leaving MAC with a couple more than intended.
One thing was for certain - I absolutely had to get my hands on the Peachstock nail polish.
Peachstock is probably one of my favorite lipsticks from MAC, regardless of what lip color obsession I go through. It is also the first lipstick I had purchased from MAC. Very random bit of trivia but I thought I would just... throw it in there. You always have this unfounded sense of attachment, no?
I like how it's a nude that is somewhat dead-nude-ish yet contains some peach. Due to it's satin formula, the lipstick lasts a good time on but it could be drying and not too flattering if your lips are going through a dry or flakey phase. Hence while I love this shade, I really can't don't reach for it every single day.
I haven't swatched the polish yet (so much for being so eager to own it, right?) but I have a mind to remove my current manicure and slap this on sometime this week!
Now... for the diversion part, the things I never really meant to haul.
From swatches online I liked how Razzle-Dazzler looked, yet I couldn't up my mind about it based on online reviews alone. Reason being, it looked like a creamy nude-coral tone on some yet it looks like a brighter coral on others.
Though swatching it pretty much sealed the deal for me and I liked how it seemed to work with my skintone so... it's coming home with me.
On me this appears like a nice inbetween of a neutral shade with a coral edge. It's a subdued coral that does make it's presence known but in an almost natural way. I wouldn't say it's the most natural of corals but I think this shouldn't be too neglected in my stash!
The first thing this shade reminded me of was Shy Girl lipstick, also from MAC, but upon inspection they really aren't the same. Shy Girl has hints of coral, but clearly not as much as Razzle-Dazzler and appears more neutral on. Yay to same-ish but different colors!
Razzle-Dazzler is of a Lustre finish while Shy Girl is an Amplified Cream which would explain why it swatches more obviously but in person Razzle-Dazzler is clearly the more coral of the two.
The last item I picked up was due to the influence of the MAC Backstage visit at the Audi Fashion Festival, and also part Mag (heh)!
I was never a fan of using eyebrown pencils or crayons to fill my brows in with because the end result always looks too 'defined' for my liking. Though this product may very well change my mind about that!
Beno had used this on the models for the Raoul A/W Fashion Show and I loved how their brows had looked. I swatched Lingering and while that was a lovely shade, I settled for Fling in the end because I felt more 'comfortable' with this one.
Fling is the lightest shade available here, I believe, and while it appears light, it swatches on alright for my hair color. The fact that it doesn't go too dark also makes it rather 'fool-proof' to use incase of any heavy-handed moments.
But that was my little damage done at MAC from the Lips and Tips collection. I so wanted to own Angel, just because so much is said about that shade and it appears lovely online but on me, it was just blah...
How sad! I think I will settle on the fact that pink lipstick and me really don't get along very well.
Did you haul anything from MAC's Lips and Tips?
p.s. I'm starting to realize again how much a feat it is to blog after work with the dying brain cells. Or maybe it isn't that hard but I'll have to get used to it all over again.
