Question reply about msn

By icyabstract · November 18, 2008 · 2 Comments · 17 Views

So I've been receiving quite a few questions about whether I do have an msn or not and whether people can add me up on my msn.
Well, I'd have to say that to be quite honest, I'm not a big fan of using MSN because I feel that sometimes when I go on, people would "spam" my msn and also being on MSN would sort of just lower my productivity (if I'm doing work that is).
But if I do think of it from your point of views, it is also a fairly good way for you all to ask me questions and receive answers almost immediately instead of having to e-mail to and fro.

After much thought, I have decided to open a new e-mail account specially for you guys, so it's a lot easier to classify too.
Also... I've been thinking of doing a ustream, but I'm not sure how successful that would be and how often I would be able to do it so you guys should tell me whether you want a ustream or not.

With that said, here's the e-mail account that you can add me up at to talk to me on msn:
i.yc@hotmail.com

Please bear in mind that I can't be online all the time too and if I am busy rushing assignments and all, I would definitely choose not to go online.
And please do not "spam" my msn if I haven't replied you in awhile and all that. I've had pretty bad experiences with people who would not take "I'm busy now".
With that said, go add me up in my new account as I'll definitely be on there a lot more often then my "usual" account as that one has far too many annoying people. No offense to anyone, I'm talking about the random friendster people (mainly guys, ughs).

Thanks again loves, and do mention if you would like a ustream or not (:

Soft Everyday Purple LOTD

By icyabstract · November 18, 2008 · 0 Comments · 205 Views

Okay, this is going to be my last entry for the day, I swear.

Here's the look I wore out today to collect my laptop and to (I guess) shop around the Raffles district a little.
It's a fairly simple and neutral (in my opinion) purple look which could be used as a everyday look if you feel that you love purple shadows so much that you wouldn't mind wearing it everyday.
I personally am alright with purple, but I would honestly wear black everyday without a doubt. However I have been fairly into neutral and softer looks of late.
I guess it's the whole "fall" transition and being affected by all the fall looks popping up on youtube.

Anyhoo, this is the look and if anyone wants me to do a tutorial on this look (or any of my lotds that is), simply request for it!
Via e-mai/private message/or youtube message, do not request in the tagboard as I might miss it.

I know I look odd, didn't feel very "photogenic" today. Lol.

As you can tell I'm into the whole "nude lids with color in the crease" type of a look lately.

Face:
- SANA Isaflavone Makeup Base
- Silky Girl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation
- JJANG Pressed Powder Foundation (to set)
- L'oreal Blush Delice in Rosewood
- Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- 28 Color Neutral Palette (top left color)
- 88 Color Regular Palette (light and dark purple)
- MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Engraved
- Za Cutie Curl Mascara;Volume in Black
- Canmake 4 Color Highlighter (3rd color from top)

Lips:
- Maybelline Shine Seductress in 203

What is your current "fall" look obsession?

Blogosphere and MAC haul

By icyabstract · November 18, 2008 · 4 Comments · 77 Views

Here's the other entry on hauls that I had recently done.
I didn't want to put these two with the previous one as I felt that entry was as long as it could get.

First, let me talk about my "blogosphere" haul, and by that I mean the haul that I had done from a local blogshop which some of you are fairly familiar with,
and that is none other then magicaltannsu.blogspot.com.
If you don't know anything about that site at all, let me just give you a brief introduction to it.
Basically, it's a local (singapore) blogshop which ships locally only (as far as I know now), and the items on sale in that blogshop range from coastal scents palettes, to elf sprees, urban decay primer potion sprees and it even has instocks of miscellaneous makeup items and brush sets on sale for fairly reasonable prices. Coupled with that is super good customer service (I guess it's called that) or rather feedback and efficient replies.

So with that said, if you're Singaporean (or are situated/live in Singapore) and want some good makeup deals, check that site out (:
Below is what I had purchased from her site (and it arrived in my mail about 2 days ago):

28 Color neutral palette (similar to that of Coastal Scents) and it's on sale for about S$29.90

Eyeshadow pigments from the 88 Color Palette.
I took 2 of these red-violet ones because I use this color fairly often.
Not too sure of the price.

Duo-Fibre Stippling Brush (and honestly, quality-wise it is comparable to the MAC187. It just isn't as "spread out" but it's as stiff and soft)
S$15.90

Urban Decay Primer Potion!
This isn't in instocks now as it was a spree, but I believe they were about S$31 each.

And last but not least, I got something non-makeup related and that was this uber cute top:

Please pardon the messy dresser.

And now, on to my MAC haul.
I've actually gotten some of these stuff (namely the lipstick and blush) earlier and gotten teh Bronzer later but here they are all together.

Mineralized Blush in Love Joy (amazing color)

Creme Sheen in Creme D'Nude.
This is fast replacing Circe as my fav nude lipstick.

So those were from a week or so ago, and this is what I picked up today while I was walking by the MAC counter on my way to collect my laptop.

MAC Bronzing Powder

I've always been a fairly big fan of bronzers however I never really had the "perfect" bronzer as I mainly used blush in stead of a bronzer and it usually turns out a little too red or a little too orange.
However, I asked the MA today for advise on a good bronzer as MSFs were too shimmery for my liking (as a bronzer I mean), and she recommended I use the good ole bronzing powder as this had just a hint of gold shimmer in it to give off that glow without making my face look like a disco ball, so I'm loving it. (:
I've tried it on immediately after I've gotten home and I really do love love love it so.
I'm probably going to use it as often as my Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder (in Luminance).

So that is all. And the reason for me posting in seperate entries would be to make it a lot easier to categorize as I didn't really like the idea of putting the same entry under 2 catogaries unless need be.
Once again, thanks for reading!

Exciting News + Mall Haul Dos!

By icyabstract · November 18, 2008 · 0 Comments · 202 Views

Boy don't I have some exciting news for you guys, especially you youtubers that have ventured over to my blog for updates.
I'll be able to post up videos very very soon because I'll be heading over to Funan aka the mall to pick up my macbook pro later today!
And by later today, I mean in about 3 hours time as it's about 3.08PM now and my mac is due at 7pm.
Can't wait!
And another piece of exciting news would be that I did not have to pay a single cent for the repair of my macbook pro,
and incase you guys are wondering I thought you were going to get a new macbook?
Well yes that was the initial plan but after my dad decided that that move was not necessary, we went ahead with the repair of my macbook pro, and my dad decided to call up the Apple control and ask about my macbook pro and whether the device that had screwed up (the motherboard/logic board) had a probable chance of defecting in the near future.
And I guess logic boards don't just destroy themselves because of consumer's usage, they decided it could be a defect that had shown itself a little after my warranty period, so that's kind of why I didn't have to pay for the repair fees. Neither did I have to pay for "consultation" fees as I sent my laptop in during the period that they were having some sort of a free consultation promotion due to the fact that they had recently opened a new branch or so. Lucky me huhs.

Anyway, enough about my mac(intosh),
this haul is from Day 2 of shopping at the new mall in my district.
My oh my, it's a quite a bit of makeup here...
I might need shopping therapy or something.

Oh yes, and these photos were taken at night with flash and a flash diffuser.
I have tried to make the colors of the products as true as they can be however some may vary.
Once again, product color names would be given on request.

Overall view.
Please ignore the mac stuff you see at the bottom, that would be talked about in another entry :D

Canmake eyeshadows, singular and dual ones.

Canmake blushes

Canmake eyeshadow and blush quads

Canmake cheek highlighter.
I intend to use this as a highlighter for the browbone though, four colors to choose from.

Canmake concealer and clear mascara

Majolica Majorca eyeliner pencils

Majolica Majorca "paintpots"

L'oreal quads. I forgot the names of these. I think the teal, pink, blue and black one is called Butterfly Kisses. I don't quite remember the neutral one though.

L'oreal Eye Studio and L'oreal True Match concealer

L'oreal Color Minerals eyeshadow

L'oreal Blush Minerals.
Ignore my brother's hand, he wishes to join in the fun, lol.

Majolica Majorca Lipglosses

L'oreal Blush Delice

Majolica Majorca Liquid Liners (in pen form)

L'oreal 2-way Lip color (different from the previous one I had gotten)

L'oreal Lipsticks.
The colors are not as true as they look, but I tried...

French tip nail tips

Alrightey, so that is it for my second haul from the mall, and this would most probably be my last haul from there for awhile.
I'd like to believe that I've pretty much gotten what I have to and need to get that I don't know what to get anymore.
Ha! That was confusing.

Eitherways, I'll be posting quite a few entries today so I am really sorry if I flood your front page on onsugar or if you haven't been here in awhile and there is a sudden influx of entries.

Edit: In the midst of typing this post, I received word that I would be able to collect my mac already, which is why I didn't publish it at 3pm. However this entry was written then and published much later (after I have returned from Apple).

Lilac Maroon LOTD for 15th November

By icyabstract · November 15, 2008 · 0 Comments · 29 Views

I was just wondering, why do I always seem to post LOTDs a day late?
And it really isn't that much later this time. It's about 2AM right now, so if I had posted 2 hours ago, I would be on time. Yes?

Either ways, that's not my point.
Here is what I wore today when I went over to the mall (Funan for those S'poreans) to check up on my mac and just a super quick update,
apparently it's Saturday and all the technicians are not around so the only available time in which I would be able to get my mac back would be either Monday or Tuesday. And also, I probably would not be purchasing a new mac since my dad felt it really wasn't necessary.
It's back to the good ole mac for me, not that I really mind it. I guess you could say I have sort of an emotional attachment to it (:

Back to the Lotd!
And what I've realized is that in photos, this look looks fairly to the one I did following Panacea81's tutorial
See: Re: MAKEUP TUTORIAL for dark brown/black asian eyes
However, I do assure you that it's not the same (:

And incase you're wondering about that little jewel I have atop of my head, it's actually a jewel pendant thing that MAC is giving away with every purchase right now. It's supposedly in sync with the whole Holiday Collection theme. I thought it was cute but didn't really know what it could be used for since a choker made it look kind of odd, I decided to throw in on as a head-band thing and see how it worked. Its kind of cute really, to me at least.

Heres's how it looks from above. Do ignore the mass of strings. I couldn't be bothered to tuck it under my hair.

Also you would be surprised to know that I did not use any black for this look at all.
No black shadow, no black liner, nothing black (:

Face:
- Silkygirl Skin Perfection Liquid Foundation
- Revlon New Complexion Loose Face Powder
- Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder
- Everyday Minerals Blush in Sneak Peak

Eyes:
- Maybelline Colorwear in Cappucino
- Maybelline High Impact Express in Lilac and Bronze
- Revlon Colorstay Liner in Blackberry
- Silkygirl Lash Prism in Brown
- Revlon Colorstay 12 hour quad in Nude Elements (highlight)

Lips:
- Majolica Majorca Lip Gloss in 21

And yes, before I go, I'd like to rave about this product that I just have to get my hands on.
It's none other then the Blush from the Red, She Said collection in Enough Said.
Click to view product info and color
It's just a perfect bronzer with a hint of luminance to it, isn't it just gorgeous. I was actually having a hard time deciding between this and Love Joy, another gorgeous amber-toned Mineralized Blush however the unique-ness of Love Joy won my vote in the end.
So the next time I get my allowance, I'm going to get myself a pretty bronzer (:
If they still do have stock of it, that is.

So that's basically it all. Thank you guys for reading!

Belated LOTD! (this was for 14th November)

By icyabstract · November 14, 2008 · 2 Comments · 52 Views

Hello lovelies.

I was supposed to post this LOTD yesterday, however I got a little carried away with watching Survivor and America's Next Top Model that I had completely forgot about it! So this entry would be for yesterday's lotd and it was just a really simple neutral green eye look. I was initially going for a "nude" eye with liquid liner look but I guess I changed my mind.

Also, I feel that the lighting always washes my photos out, however if I take it further from the window, the picture would be too dark...
And flash on a SLR Camera = blinding. SLR means either a pro or semi-pro camera.
If you're wondering why I own an SLR, that's because I'm an aspiring photography. ha!
A little bit of a self promotion over there.....

Anyway, on to the looks

And also, I've noticed that my lashes are fairly long now.
I don't know if it's because the Canmake Lash essence is working, or if it is the Majolica Majorca Lash Bone (lash primer),
but either ways, I'm liking it!

Oh Blimey, my cupboard is open.
(trust me when I say "Mind Your Language" is getting to me)

Here's the list of products which mainly consists of Revlon, lol!

Face:
- BRTC Glossy Shining BB Cream
- Revlon New Complexion Loose Face Powder
- Everyday Mineral Silk Dust
- Revlon Colorstay Mineral Blush in Deep Bronze
- Canmake Cheek Gradation in 04
- Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Eyes:
- Revlon Colorstay Mineral Eyeshadow in Tiger Eye
- Revlon Colorstay 12 hour quad in Spring Moss
- Rhomlon Eyeshadow in Dark Brown/no. 38
- Revlon Colorstay Liner in Black Brown
- Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara
- Majolica Majorca Lash Bone (primer)

Lips:
- Revlon Renewist Lip Color in Naturally Revealing

To add, here's an update about the whole laptop incident.
I've received word that repairing my laptop would cost about S$1.9k or so and that is just, insane. From the looks of it I'll most probably be getting a new laptop. I've discussed this whole "too expensive to repair and better off getting a new one" idea with my parents but my dad still has the final say and I would only hope that he sees it from my point of view.
Also, if I do get a new laptop I'll not be getting a pro no more. Why?
I don't see the point or difference in the current macbook and macbook pro aside from the lack of a color processor in the regular macbooks.
I'm sorry if that was a little "foreign", but in short, the two laptops are fairly similar right now in terms of capabilities so I might as well settle for the regular one as it's cheaper and SO much lighter.
A pro is just too damn heavy and I really do feel myself getting shorter.

Either ways this has been a fairly lengthy entry so I shall take my leave now.
Oh, and I did a few hauls lately (again), and I'll probably post them in another entry :D

One more thing! ha. I can't help that I blog exactly the way I speak, not remembering everything and constantly saying "one more thing",
I did a video on my current situation on youtube with my CRAPPY phone camera, just because I felt that some people wouldn't check to see what's going on and might feel that I'm lazy, so yeap.
Watch the video here!

I've said all I have to, so thanks for reading!

Drugstore haul and laptop crash update.

By icyabstract · November 12, 2008 · 2 Comments · 331 Views

I am so excited today, even though I know I should really be worried.
But anyway, there's a new mall in my district (West Coast Plaza) and a few days ago it's been opened to the public - although not all the stores have been filled up and there are still vacant spots.

So today, I went over to take a look at what they had and guess what?
They have Subway, Coffee Bean and Starbucks.
Omigosh. Those places are pretty much my default snacking locations, so needless to say I was totally happy.
On top of that, there were two drugstores there too. A Watsons and a Guardian, and these drugstores housed tons of cosmetic brands that I would usually not be able to get at the drugstore across the road from my house.
With that being said, I guess I sort of did an "unplanned" haul today and here are the items that I had gotten:

(color names can be mentioned upon request because I'm too lazy to check the names now. Lol.)

So here's the close-up of the stuff I had gotten:

Eyeshadows from Majoica Majorca,
which seems to me to be a drugstore version of Anna Sui (in terms of packaging)
Check the website out: http://www.majolica-majorca.com

Some eyeshadow quads from Majolica Majorca.

Majolica Majorca Blush and Lip glosses.
The packaging is too cute!

Left: Volumising Mascara from Majolica Majorca
Right: Mascara Primer (long-lasting and lash strengthening) from Majolica Majorca

L'oreal Colorappeal Star Secrets quads.

L'oreal Blushes (which I don't know the "series" of)

L'oreal new 2-way Lip color and Telescopic Clean Mascara

More blushes!
These are from L.A. Girl

Eyeshadows from L.A. Girls. These are the "Metallic" ones.

Left: L.A. Girl lipstick in Honey
Right: Canmake Rouge in Peach something.. (I forgot the name and it doesn't say on the lipstick.)

Canmake blush palettes and Blush Duo with Highlighters
I'm having a bit of a blush obsession now as you can tell.

Canmake eyeshadows and Eye Lash Essence.

Incase you're wondering, the Eye Lash Essence is supposed to make your lashes stronger and longer with regular usage.
As of now, I'm using it both night and day and I guess after a month or so I'll update and tell you guys whether it actually works or not.

So that is it and hopefully I'll be able to make a video of this soon,
once I get my mac back that is.
Oh yes! When I sent my mac for servicing, the people at the counter said it might be something up with my laptop's logic board and the hard disk should not be affected.
I do hope that it is true as I have not backed up my stuff for about 2 weeks, and all the vids I have filmed thus far would be gone.
That is such a scary thought.
Either ways, I'm waiting to hear back from them about what is up with my laptop and how much it would be to have it fixed.

Thank you guys for reading, and toodles.
Haha.

OMG.

By icyabstract · November 10, 2008 · 4 Comments · 30 Views

Can you believe it? My Macbook Pro just crashed on me....
And incase you're wondering, I'm currently using the "universal" home laptop to blog.

But my point being that MY MACBOOK PRO HAS JUST CRASHED.
I'm so freaking dead because all my school work, videos and everything are in there,
and the last time I backed up was about 2 weeks ago and that was a damn long time ago.
Omg, I just feel so in shock right now...
I still have about 5 or 6 videos waiting to be uploaded and now they're all gone.

I hope that my hard drive is not corrupted and I hope tomorrow, when I go down to the Mac Store, they would be able to salvage some or if not all of my information.
Till then, I'm sorry you guys but there wouldn't be any videos or entries just yet.
I have a lot of work to re-do and a lot of videos to re-shoot and edit.

This is such a bummer.

Au Natural (LOTD)

By icyabstract · November 9, 2008 · 2 Comments · 475 Views

Today's look of the day would be the ultimate definiton of Neutral, since it seems like I have hardly anything on to begin with.
Aside from the fairly obvious liner which I still refuse to give up.
I guess doing tight-lining and all that is fab and gives great definition while making it look "unseen", but I loved my smoked out smoldered liner look too much to give it up, so here's my take on a Neutral look using very minimal items at that (only because I was in a rush).

(click on image for full quality. The compressed one makes my face look jagged, lmao)

Face:
EDM Foundation in Medium Beige Neutral (Original Glo + Matte)
Revlon Blush in Tawny Peach
ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

Eyes:
MAD Mineral Shadow Base
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Eyeshadow in Tiger Eye
Maybelline Unstoppable Smudge Proof Eyeliner in Black
SIlky Girl Lash Prism in Black

Lips:
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Shine City

I absolutely love how Mineral Foundation makes my skin look prettayeeeee.
Simple and fast neutral look using minimal and cheap makeup!
Thanks for reading. (:

Drugstore and MAC darlings (:

By icyabstract · November 8, 2008 · 0 Comments · 466 Views

Like I've said, here's the entry about the haul that I had done a little over 2 days ago.
I haven't done a video on the stuff yet because the drilling was being so horrible over the past few days that I didn't want to put you guys into such misery. I'll probably video when the environment is a little bit more pleasing. (:

Either ways, here are the stuff that I had gotten!
I initially planned to post swatches as well but sadly since I was taking photos at night (towards the end), the swatches turned out poo-ey and the colors never really did show up, so I guess I would not be posting swatches for these stuff unless someone requests a review or something.

So here's an overview of my drugstore haul.

And now, the closeup of some of the stuff.

Maybelline color wear blushes in shades watermelon, apricot and rose.

Silky girl Funky Eyelights, these are the bomb. And tbh I didn't buy these for myself ;)
and I'm not saying why I bought these just yet.

Silky girl .... I forgot what these things were called. I'm guessing it was Moisture Lipcolor, or something.

Here's a closeup of the colors. Names can be given upon request.

And I got my second Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Shine City.
I so love this.

L'oreal makeup remover,
Only because I have been requested to do a comparism between this and the Maybelline one.
honestly, I don't usually go out of the way to purchase something just to review it upon request, but since I have been fairly curious about this product, I decided to give it a try. But I'd have to say my current general verdict is that L'ancome's makeup remover still kicks ass.

Maybelline Brow Duo in Dark Brown

Watsons Eyebrown Trimmer and I tell you, this stuff is fab! With this around you can say goodbye to your eyebrow scissors.
Not so much so your tweezers or razor, but it definitely makes trimming your brows down a breeze!

And this is how the bath head-band thing works.
(It's the middle product on the top row in the main picture)

And probably one of my most random buys. Let's just say I was being curious and having too many cups of coffee these days aren't exactly the best remedy for white teeth either.

And here's my MAC haul, the Little Darlings in Warm.
Gosh these are so adorable and I just had to get them. I passed on getting Danger Zone from the Red She Said collection since I wasn't too sure if I would use that a lot. The glitter in the centre is sooo chunky it's hard to work with. And the other colors just didn't seem practical. It's cute though, but there's no point in it.

Swatches are courtesy of pursebuzz.com

And that is it, can't wait to try some of the stuff out (:
If you have gotten or are planning to, what would you get from the MAC Holiday Collection?
