Can't Wait For Lush Emotional Brilliance!

By icyabstract · July 10, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

Swapping back to what I like to call 'productive entries' real soon!

In the mean time, I wanted to post this quick bulletin one for those who may be curious about the Lush Emotional Brilliance collection, as curious about it as I am.

I haven't previewed this in person but I have read a run down and range information from Mag (makeupstash). Mag had also provided some shots, swatches and little sneak peaks at the range when she dropped for a look at Lush's latest concept of what I'd like to call mood-cosmetics.

But that's all I gather from the entries about it, what do I really know, right?

Fortunately there's more word about the line now, from BritishBeautyBlogger. She had posted swatches of their Lush Liquid Lips, Liquid Liner, Cream Shadow and more! Very exciting stuff.

Picture from BritishBeautyBlogger

Check out her swatches and mention about the Lush Emotional Brilliance collection.

I don't know how this collection truly works, what it involves and such but it's said to launch worldwide on the 21st of July so I guess I'll find out then!

Are you looking forward to checking out the Lush Emotional Brilliance cosmetic (?) line?

Thanks for reading!

Goodies: Lush Assorted Goodie Bag

By icyabstract · May 7, 2012 · 8 Comments ·

Continuing with my Lush files, we were each given a little pack with an assortment of Lush products to bring back and have a go at.

This fun pack (fun to me at least!) contained a good mix of items from soap to body care and even hair care.

Except for one, I have never tried the other items before so this was a good time to own and give these products a shot!

I believe everything else isn't 'full-sized', just to let you know!

I'll run through the items briefly along with some information about them for introduction purposes incase you often get overwhelmed (by scents and sights), like I do, in a Lush store.

Of course, first up it's the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner.

After my previous entry, this certainly doesn't require any further introduction. This tub seems good for a couple of uses and I would most likely use it on my legs as they tend to require more hydration.

Next up is the Yuzu and Cocoa Bubbleroon, what an adorable name - bubbleroon.

This bubble bar contains lashings of coconut oil and shea butter to help nourish the skin. With a name like Yuzu and Cocoa this is described to have a citrusy twang with an underlying warm hint of cocoa though sniffing the bar (without crumbling it) the overall scent is rather mild. I think it's one you have to use to experience the scent of.

I don't have a tub (sadly) so I may just half this little ball to pamper and soak my feet with.

Next would be the whacky named Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar. I'm sorry but magic muscles just cracks me up, it's so cute yet peculiar.

I'm one of those that get uncomfortable with irregular holes (trypophobia) and while these aren't holes per se, it's still a little uneasy for me to stare at the image above. Though those red bits are actually aduki beans (or azuki - red bean) 'trapped' within a mix of peppermint and cinnamon oil, shea butter and cocoa butter.

This magic muscles bar helps to ease tired muscles by stimulating it with the aduki beans and soothing it with the oils. Along with skin nourishing effects of the butters of course.

I've tried and owned some massage bars and most of them require a little warming up before it melts on your skin but once unwrapped, magic muscles felt all softened up and ready to go. Maybe it's this particular bar but definitely keep your massage bars in a cool area out of the sun!

Moving to hair, I have here the Ultimate Shine Shampoo Bar.

I've tried Gentle Lentil solid shampoo (which I don't see locally?) before so the idea of using a solid bar as a shampoo isn't too foreign. Though initially I must admit I was wondering how in the world was this logic going to unfold.

Ultimate Shine is a violet-scented solid shampoo that is said to give your locks a glamourous shine. If violet isn't enough to tempt me, the shine factor sure had me reading on. With ylang ylang to make dull hair gleam, elemi oil and violet leaf helps to docongest and tone the scalp. This shampoo bar also comes with golden glitter for an added subtle shimmer. Now, I wonder how that plays out...

The last item included was Miranda Soap which I didn't photograph because I had a cut-up bar lying around and didn't want to open this one yet.

I believe I have described it before but Miranda is a deliciously fruity scented soap that swings a little sweet. It's a nice feel-good bar of soap that I like tossing into the shower when I want to smell all fresh and fruity!

Now this ended up a lot longer than I had thought but have you tried anything from this list?

Please recommend me your Lush favorites, even if it's with the protests of my bank.

Thanks for reading!

Event: Lush Party (and Promotion)!

By icyabstract · May 6, 2012 · 4 Comments ·

Lush!

To this day I still get all excited when it comes to this brand. Not that I squeal and prance around the store but it still feels like there are so many different things to look at and find out about each time I head down to the Lush store. I used to just be all about their soaps but having a local outlet really helps with discovering new products!

Which was exactly what we did with this cozy little Lush gathering.

We were each handed a fresh rose and bandung (rose syrup with milk - my fav) to sip on upon entering, all this was in theme of their main product for the night. Even the staff present were all color co-ordinated in red!

Well now, what is that rosey star attraction, you may ask?

It's the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner!

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is a rose-scented "shower lotion". Basically, we have conditioners for our hair so here is a conditioner for the body!

Infused with Argan Oil, which is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, that helps to improve the elasticity of the skin and also contains anti-aging properties.

On top of that, it contains an infusion of Cypress which is a cooling herb and said to help with sweating problems. Think, a moisturizing body conditioner that has a slight deodarant after-effect, that's some interesting twist.

I haven't tried the deodorant declaration out for myself but we were given a nice conditioning rub of Ro's Argan on the back of our hands and yum, this stuff smells so good. Though this is a comment coming from an ardent fan of anything rose-scented.

The scent is mild, not too strong, sweet or floral. If I could compare it to something I would say it reminds me of the wafting rose scent in Anna Sui's products. Rather similar at least.

May (the lovely lady holding the tub, also one of the owners of Lush Singapore) mentioned that this also works really well as a shaving cream for soft and smooth skin after!

Aside from that one introduction, the folks over Lush made sure that we left the store with soft, smooth and pampered arms!

To do this, they prepared 2 demonstrations using a selection of various Lush products to both scrub and moisturize away!

I didn't snap many photos hence the chunk of words you see thus far (and will continue to see, oops) but these were the items used for Demo 1!

Demo 1

1) Start with a good scrub using Buffy
2) After rinsing, pat dry and hydrate the skin using Soft Coeur massage bar (which is edible... hmmm)
3) If Massage Bars leave too much of a tacky residue on you, you can always pat on some Silky Underwear (body powder) to smooth things out!

Here's Kas getting her turn with the demo! I had to resort to snapping pics of others since I can't shoot when getting my hands wet.

Demo 2 was a little more, I would say, 'hard-core' with the exfoliation and I could honestly feel my hands getting so much more supple, smoothened out and 'scrubbed' after. This demonstration was really hands-on and made us use both our hands.

Here's what was used:

Demo 2

1) First they slathered generous amounts of Lemony Flutter (originally a cuticle cream) for us to rub on our fingers and all over our hands
2) Then, we were given a dollop of Ocean Salt (body scrub) to exfoliate our hands with
3) Rinse it all off after and surprisingly it washed off easily with no greasiness
4) After rinsing, pat dry and bring on the hydration with Dream Cream!

I was surprised to know that Lemony Flutter could be used before an exfoliation to help enhance the effect. It helps to soften the dead skin, especially the around the cuticles, which then makes it easier to exfoliate them away.

That marked the end of the party session and we wrapped up the night with snapping random shots of the shop and also some chatter.

Here are some shots from the shop along with a captions, to ease the word load.

Special Mothers' Day Lush packaging (the flower one)! As opposed to the usual Lush logo wrapping.

Another Mothers' Day item (the pink angel with yellow wings). This is actually for dish-washing, not a soap!

No Drought dry shampoo which had us all crowding around it. I passed up on getting it but I'm having second thoughts...

Me being dumb, decided to snap a shot of my hand to showcase how soft and smooth it was after the demo but I doubt pictures do anything for that! Instead, here's a nail color preview :)

And lastly, if you have made it all the way through this text-filled entry, here's the Promotional information for you!

In the month of May, for every Ro's Argan Body Conditioner you purchase, you will have your name entered into a Lush draw! So if you purchase 3 tubs, you will be entered 3 times.

The prize at the end of this draw is a 12-item Lush gift set worth S$150!

You can drop by the store to enquire more about the giveaway or read up about the goodness of Ro's Argan Body Conditioner via Lush's blog!

If you have been curious about this or love it to bits, now would be a good time to pick it up or stock up.

With that, thank you for reading!

Also, do share what are some of your loves from Lush, be it their soaps, conditioners, anything! So I know what to check out the next time I drop by the store.

Haul: Lush-scious Christmas Savings!

By icyabstract · December 28, 2011 · 5 Comments ·

I was undecided on a straight forward title or letting the corniess in me overrun it and I think in the end I settled for an in between. Yes, it could have been cornier.

All thanks to Kas, I learnt that Lush is having a 35% off their Christmas box sets!

In truth, aside from the Christmas Eve Bubble Bar, I wasn't looking to get anything else because of my over-stocked Lush stash at home. Though who can resist a little discount and the box sets are just so cutely packed with soaps and shower gels and....

Rationalizing purchases can go on forever.

Most box sets come with a bubble bar or bath ballistic and sadly, I do not have a bath tub at home to fully enjoy them.

I still went ahead and got them anyway because they will be used and loved if I went on a staycation or a holiday! In the meantime, they can do their part by scenting my cupboards and wardrobes, which they do a pretty good job of!

Since they were out of stock of the singular Christmas Eve Bubble Bar, I had to make do by getting O Christmas Tree.

I was initially hesitant about getting it just for Christmas Eve Bubble Bar but Kas pointed out this set has that magical color changing bath ballistic, Golden Wonder Bath Ballistic.

With that, I was sold.

The almighty color changing bath ballistic was much bigger then I imagined. Kas was explaining the process of how it works and it sounds amazing! I searched up youtube for videos so if you're curious, click here to see how this bad boy fizzes up the tub.

While it wasn't on the 35% offer, I still grabbed Honey Farm because it contains 2 items that I have been wanting to try for the longest time ever.

The items I've been dying to try would be Flying Fox Shower Gel and Ma Bar Bubble Bar, Ma Bar especially! I'm not sure if Ma Bar is being sold individually at our Lush stores, I don't remember seeing it? Or I could be blind, as always...

I thought this 'warning' about the popcorn packing was a little strange.

Until I opened the boxed....

The packing peanuts, or should I say packing popcorn looks so realistic! It does look like someone opened a pack of popcorn, ready to be served.

Ma Bar! I can't stand how cute it looks with that sugar(?) cube in the middle.

The total bill would have been over a hundred but I paid about 80 something for it with the 35% on O Christmas Tree, not too bad I would say. I'm not too sure when this sale ends but drop by quick if you're eyeing the Xmas box sets or the Christmas limited edition items.

Thanks for reading!

Video Haul for Lush Samples (Scent Descriptions) + 1 Product Honorable Mention

By icyabstract · April 25, 2010 · 8 Comments ·

Hi guys!

Back when I had posted my Lush Sample haul blog entries (Entry #1, Entry #2) I briefly described the scents of some of the items I had received. Not all though because I felt it might be too wordy but I did promise that I would elaborate on their scents when I did a video Lush Sample Haul video - and so here it is!

Due to this being a collective sample haul and me having a lot to say (as usual), this became a 2 parter and here are the 2 parts. I had uploaded part 1 earlier in the week so some of you might have caught it already. I had just put part 2 up, so here it is on my blog as well!

If you prefer viewing it in the full-sized comfort from youtube, click on the link just below the embedded video.

PART 1

PART 2

View on youtube

A super quick update just because I have been gone for almost a week. Not entirely, it's about 5 days but that is quite a while.

I have been rather busy with school assignments. As mentioned, this is my final school term (IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! *hopefully*) so I doubt the workload will get lighter anytime soon. On the contrary I think it might get heavier as deadlines approach so it would be even harder to update this space in future. I must apologize again and thank you guys once more for sticking with my inactivity.

I miss being able to check onsugar updates every couple hours, surf makeup blogs for awhile between 'breaks' while I did homework. Now it's full steam ahead and when I'm not doing homework I'm often catching up on sleep. Vicious cycle ):

I do however want to give an honorable mention to this one product - Acne Clear.

Usually in such hectic periods my skin would break out real bad and it's impossible to prevent that, but this product is keeping everything under control. I don't have photographic documentation (because I think photographing zits and stuff is quite scary) but I can truly testify that it works. My skin has cleared up from the previous acne battle it was facing and now it's even fighting acne from this current lifestyle. Truly a miracle product for me - and for only S$3.95!

This isn't exactly a review, Mya had done a pretty good review of it here. My post is more of a 'it has worked on me!' testimony. (:

Though one personal feedback: I didn't find it drying on my skin at all and the active ingredient is Sulphur, for those who are wondering. I find Sulphur seems to be the most potent one in the acne field.

So yeap that's my little update and stuff. Thank you so much for reading!

MAC Riveting Haul + Mini Swap

By icyabstract · March 30, 2010 · 12 Comments ·

Somehow between my crazy school schedule (last assignment due this thursday!) I managed to squeeze a little time to drop by MAC. The main reason for doing so is because of the Liberty of London collection. It has been awhile since any MAC collection has gotten me so obsessed as to make time to go by MAC though I have more important things to do.

However I would not be posting up my Liberty of London haul just yet. As some might know, I have a couple items that the lovely Sarah (facesbysarah) is currently baby-sitting for me. Initially I was positive that I would not be able to hit a MAC store till after submissions (thursday) so Sarah was kind enough to help me get some items I absolutely HAD to have. Mainly because I fear they would be out of stock by then.

So anyway, I'll post up my Liberty of London stuff together at a later date. Though aside from simply swatching the Liberty of London collection while at MAC, I wondered over to another display stand...

The Riveting collection and I immediately fell in love with this one product.

MAC Blush in Full Fuschia

As if I need another blush right? Sigh~

This blush is an extremely bright and cool-toned pink with some blue and silver shimmer. I think The pigmentation of this blush was quite scary, no kidding, see for yourself!

Isn't it gorgeous! I was surprise it wasn't out of stock.
The MA that served me had this blush on and I didn't know until she pointed it out because the color she had on her cheeks was a soft, dolly pink. Not as intense as the swatch, so I'm pretty excited to use this one. A little scared too incase I get heavy-handed.. that wouldn't be very attractive now would it?

One more thing to mention.
I had also done a mini swap with Chantana (everbluec). Primarily because she saw me gushing in Kas's post about how much I wanted to get my hands on Lush's solid perfume in Vanilliary because of Kas's rave.

She personally wasn't too keen on the scent and long story short we decided to do a mini swap!

I received the package a couple days ago but haven't got to posting it so here it is!

Maybelline Angelfit Pore Zero Base, Lush Vanilliary Solid Perfume

It was real nice of her to include a sample of Maybelline's Angelfit Pore Zero Base too. It's a product I've been meaning to try because of a couple raves on here. Due to the fact that I still have primers to go through I haven't picked it up, but now I get to sample it! Thanks Chantana!

And if anyone is wondering about Lush Vanilliary's scent description, you should totally check out Kas's description of it and be prepared to want it.

I personally love the scent. It's a different sort of vanilla and it's not all vanilla either. It almost smells like confectionary vanilla? I wouldn't say it's a very sweet scent (think Snow Fairy) nor is it caramel like (think Honey I Washed the Kids). It truly is a scent that is hard to describe.

And that would be all! Time for me to retire back to my pile of work. As much as we deny it, hauling is an extremely pleasurable form of stress-relief.

Thank you for reading.

Haul: Even More Lush Samples!

By icyabstract · March 23, 2010 · 16 Comments ·

I seem to have a 'level' of lush sample title going on. The first one was just plain and simple 'Lush Sample', the second was 'Lush Samples Again' and this one is 'Even More Lush Samples'. I wonder what the next one would be....

I made this haul from the same seller as the 'Lush Samples again' blog entry (link above). She has a nice variation of Lush stuff available and is super friendly. I do like just browsing her webpage (you know, like window shopping? haha) and am probably going to pick out more stuff in future, but as of now I think I should lay off Lush for awhile.

Here is the link to the Lush sample seller --> CLICK ME!

And I am featuring the sale thread voluntarily, the seller did not ask for a mention etc. I just figured since a lot of people have asked me regarding where to get Lush in Singapore and all that this would be a good and reliable site to promote.

This time around I bought way more then I did before. It might be due to stress and the fact that I need to relief that somewhere or it might be due to late night surfing impulses, I would never know... I will not be describing all the scents in this entry as I'll be leaving that to the video I aim to film and put up sometime down the road.

Starting off, here are some freebie samples that she had included.

Sniffles of Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar (left) and Marshmellow Moment Bath melt (right).
So cute how she calls scent samples sniffles!

Now on to the sample products I chose before progressing to the random sampler pack.

From the last haul I had gotten the Christmas Eve Bubble Bar and I loved the scent so much that I just had to pick it up again.

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar
Lush really needs to make a soap with this scent, or is there an existing one already? Last I checked... I don't think there was.

Candy Cane Bubble Bar
This smells extremely similar to Rockstar soap! Except maybe a tad sweeter and doesn't have that musk factor that Rockstar has.

Comforter Bubble Bar

Cinders Bath Ballistic
Now I am actually super excited for this one, and how generous, you get half the ballistic! I have been wanting this not because it contains pop rocks that makes fizzing noizes in the bath, but because it smells of cinnamon and I absolutely love the scent of cinnamon.

Last item I picked out was *surprise surprise* a bar of soap!

Porridge Soap
I picked this out because with my UK Lush haul, many people have suggested that I check out Porridge soap too. I have heard mixed reviews regarding this so I figured why not grab a sample and decide if I want a full size at a later date.

Along with my order I decided to be ambitious and go for the 10 piece random sampler pack instead. The 10 piece one costs 12SGD and the 5 piece one costs 7SGD. The first time around I was humble and stuck with 5, but I wanted more lush in my life, so here's what I randomly got:

Honey Hugs Shower Gel
This is like a liquid shower gel form of Honey I Washed the Kids soap! Smells just like it, except a little sweeter (stronger toffee scent)

Dream Cream (body lotion)

Fairy Tale Sugar Scrub
I never thought this day would come but I really really do not like the scent of this. Everyone else in my family thinks it's fine except for me. It doesn't smell rancid but the scent really just puts me off.

American Cream Conditioner

Big Shampoo
Upon first sniff, I thought this smelt a bit weird and very raw-vegetable-ish. I think it might be because of the citrus mix it has, but it slowly grows on you and it becomes a nice pick-me-up fresh and crisp scent.

Want to Believe Bath Melt
A fairly masculine scent I think. It has fennel in it, which I think makes most products lean towards the slightly masculine side. It almost makes the product smell like it has a minty edge when there is absolutely no mint at all, just that fresh perk.

Red Ruby Slippers Bubble Bar

Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar
I would say this seems to smell quite close to Cinders. It has cinnamon and it has that hint of citrus (orange oil). It also makes you feel very warm inside when you smell it. Definitely love it, and it's red!

Fever Message Bar

Butterball Bath Ballistic

And last but surely not least....

Christmas Party Bath Ballistic
I like how this smells though be warned, this is said to be one deadly bath ballistic. Why so? Because it contains little plastic stars that can poke the heck out of you in the bath. Why would Lush put something so dangerous in their products, I have no idea... but it does smell pretty good. A fruity, sweet and intoxicating scent.

And that sums up my Lush sample haul! It seemed like a lot of products, which is true, but they are samples. So when you look at it that way, it doesn't seem like that much already.

I have also twittered that I have found a way to sort of enjoy the bath bombs/melts/ballistics/bubble bars and that is with my kiddie tub. I do not have a bath tub but instead I have this medium sized plastic tub. Almost like the baby ones but bigger. I can't stretch out inside, but it fits most of me. Sounds quite sad, but it gets the job done so.. oh well. And smaller tub = using lesser product! (:

p.s. no I didn't run out to buy a tub just for this. Lol. It was always there, I just never thought to use it.

Keep a look out for the lush sample video if you want to know the scent descriptions for everything listed here (and from the previous sample haul).

Thanks for reading!

Lush carries foundation now?

By icyabstract · March 21, 2010 · 15 Comments ·

Okay I should really be doing my homework but somehow for no rhyme or reason I cruised over to the Lush UK website and this immediately caught my eye!

Out of curiosity I clicked on it and found out that this is a foundation/tinted product that Lush calls their Color Supplment. You can mix this into your moisturizer to produce a tinted moisturizer or use it alone as a spot concealer or foundation - that's what I gather from reviews and the description.

It comes in 4 different shades, 2 that cater to people with undertones and another 2 for people with yellow undertones. I am not entirely sure if this functions more as a foundation or a tinted moisturizer. If in the case of the latter, the shades would not be that significant since most tinted moisturizers are sheer and you can get away with shades lighter or darker then your actual skintone.

I have tried googling around but there are very little sources reporting on this product.
It must be very new?

Even if there are mentions on it, there aren't any swatches just yet and we all know product shots on websites are only that reliable.
If you are interested, Musings of A Muse did a mention on this though she is currently waiting to get her hands on her order, so no swatches, just a mention.

If you head over to the Lush Color Supplement product page, you are able to read reviews left by the users and it seems most of them are quite positive. Each shade provides a new page of reviews.

I have to admit I am actually very intrigued by this product and am this close to hitting the check out button. But I shan't, only cause I do wish to wait for more reviews to surface and also swatches and shade comparisons. Judging from photos I think I'm probably a Dark Yellow? Only because the Light Yellow really does look very light...

What do you think? Interested in this product, waiting for reviews or just giving it a pass?

And of course Lush did not ask me to write about this (:
Thanks for reading!

Haul: Lush Samples Again! But No Soap?

By icyabstract · February 13, 2010 · 9 Comments ·

I wanted to get this entry up as soon as I can since I wouldn't have the time to update over the next couple of days. For one, there is Chinese New Year relative visiting to be done. That and the looming fact that I have a presentation and report to hand in just after the festive season (thursday). I am definitely going to be kept busy for a while.

Enough rambling on my schedule.

In my last Lush sample haul, I did not list the seller as she had ran out of stock of samples. Well now she stll has some stock left so click here to check out the samples for sale. Most of the stuff were pretty wiped out when I found out, hence I didn't manage to get the things I really wanted to try (e.g. Comforter and Candy Cane Bubble Bar).

The package came in yesterday but there were just too many things going on that I procrastinated posting this.

As seen in the title, I did not pick up any bar soaps. I did get some shower gel, lotion stuff and bath bombs/bubble bars, stuff like that... You'll see in the entry (:

I have mention before that I don't have a tub so getting bubble bars or bath stuff is quite strange. However I have learnt from the seller that you can use these to 'scent' places. Say you put a small chunk of a bath ballistic in your wardrobe, your entire wardrobe will smell of it since Lush scents are relatively strong.

Also, if you plan on traveling or going somewhere with a tub, simply bring it along with you! The seller also suggested to wash your clothes with the bubble bars, though I don't think I would be doing that. I would rather scent my wardrobe, room, bag etc with these lovely things.

Here are the stuff I picked out:

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar (limited edition with the Christmas season)

When I find time, I will do a little haul video of these where I will (try to) briefly describe the scents. Since I'm not home right now I can't exactly remember how each of them smelt like.

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Cream
This one though I can remember exactly how it smells, the scent reminds me of dish washing liquid, no joke! I got two of these because I remember someone raved about this.. I can't recall who, but I was so sure I was going to like it. I don't hate it because it does moisturize well and it's not thick and greasy but man, I don't know if I want my hands to smell like I had just done the dishes.

Avoshower Shower Gel
This one too. I remember the scent because it smells more or less exactly like Lemony Flutter.

The seller also had this awesome deal going on whereby you can purchase a Lush Sample Pack of either 5 or 10 products - they cost S$7 and S$12 respectively. The samples in this pack are slightly smaller as compared to actually buying the sample itself, hope that wasn't confusing. She had listed the products she has on hand to randomize and she explains it a little better then I do in her sale entry (scroll down, it's near the end).

I thought it was fun to get a Sample Pack just to try out products and scents that I might otherwise not pick out. I went for the 5 product one, though I did ask if I could omit including soaps since I wasn't too interested in those.

These are the random 5 products I got:

English Countryside Bath Ballistic

Too Drunk Emotibomb

Mask of Magniminty
Super excited I got this random sample because I've heard so much about it. I can't wait to try it out.

SIlky Underwear Dusting Powder
Super cute name, I rarely 'powder' myself but I think this could be a start.

Snowshower Shower Jelly

Sugar Scrub
Another product I've heard so much about and can't wait to try.

So that's my little haul, and I do want to thank the seller (icesng) for protectively wrapping everything up.
All the little sample jars came with tape stuck all around them to ensure that the lid stays on regardless. Here's the mountain of tape I had after I peeled it off all the jars.

Alright, thank you for reading!

When I am stress... I haul.

By icyabstract · January 28, 2010 · 21 Comments ·

Which might explain the slight influx of hauls, When I get stressed out (usually from school) I end up seeking solace in either food or retail therapy. Though I don't have time to hit the stores, I manage to do it via the interwebz. Though when I get stress and I don't have time at all to surf, that's a totally different story and a very sad one at that.

But anyway these packages came a day apart, but since I knew I was going to receive them at about the same time I waited to do a collective haul entry. For some reason it seems like I am very home bound. If you have noticed all my recent haul entries are packages... I feel so reliant on the internet.

Package #1

I had bought these items from icefrost though It's a long story how I ended up buying from her. Well it's not that long but it can get rambly. ha. So yes I am back with my self-tanning mania. Even though I have a great self-tanning product that I love, I can't help but venture out and try more.

This package came in yesterday so I have tried the Coppertone Sunless Tanner out. It does produce a subtle tan effect, not entirely obvious but you can see a slight color change with just one application.

What surprised me was the product came out white, like a regular lotion.

I guess I had been too used to self tanners that come with a bronzer quality to them, this one is purely a gradual tanning lotion. The lotion does smell really good though, before the self tanner scent kicks in.

She was also really sweet to send me a little freebie

Getil Lentil Solid Shampoo sample from Lush. Absolutely cannot wait to try this out!

So that was the first package, moving on to the second one...

Package #2

Just got this one in today. Exciting~

A big thanks to Lin for informing me about this website that had a spree an ongoing ELF spree (and they still do, it's like massive spree website).

The main reason for me placing this order would have to be this lipstick:

Their Mineral Lipstick in Natural Nymph.

This was one of the shades that Lollipop26 had raved about not too long ago. The minute I saw the swatch of this or even the product picture on her blog, I knew that by hook or by crook I had to get my hands on it. Why? Just cause it's a nude lipstick (:

When looking at the lipstick in person, it reminds me a lot of MAC's Creme D'Nude. I whipped my Creme D'Nude out and did a group shot.

They look quite similar when placed along-side each other, but here's a lipswatch of Natural Nymph.

I find that this is more of a nude then Creme D'Nude is. I think it might be because Creme D'Nude is a bit pinkier on... or it just has a little more life to it. This is actually really pale!
I do like the texture of it, it's nice and smooth on though for this particular shade I think you need to work at getting it on. It's not something you can throw on and run out. You have to make sure it's sitting right and you didn't miss a spot, get rid of the 'lipstick-line', that sort of a thing. The color is really nice but not something I would wear on it's own. I think even for me, it's too much of an extreme nude and I look sick (like ill-sick) with it alone.

Next I picked up some single eyeshadows just to try out, since I was making an order.

Wild Wheat

I searched for swatches of the eyeshadows before purchasing and Wild Wheat was probably one of the shades that everyone says not to get because it doesn't show up. Not that the pigmentation sucks, it's just so much of a skintone shade that it's doesn't show up well, geddit? Personally, that is exactly the eyshadow shade I was looking for. Like with my Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow, I wanted something that was nude on and skintoned with a nice pretty sheen.

Next eyeshadow shade I got was:

Mystic Moss

I got this because I thought it was quite a unique shade. It's like a grey at some angles and a moss green at others, really pretty!
Here are some swatches:

Non existent Wild Wheat... but you see the sheen!

So that's my little stress relief bundle right there. I would be lying if I said this is it... but this the bulk of it! ;)

Right so as usual I'm goint to go rush and get ready for my night classes, thank you all for reading!
