LOTD: True Blue Pop of Color

By icyabstract · March 29, 2013 · 2 Comments ·

Hello long weekend! I am taking advantage of this added break to throw up some entries because I foresee myself being rather caught up with work in the week(s?) to come.

After 4 months away from work, what was I expecting right?

Regardless, here's the LOTD that I gave a quick sneap peek too in my recent rambly entry.

I was quite excited to wear and also photograph this look due to the intensity of the liner hence do pardon the eye spam that might follow!

Well, the title is a tad misleading because the blue here isn't a 'true blue'.

Instead it is a bright cornflower blue and most definitely not for the faint-hearted!

Though on second thought, maybe it would be suited as a pop of color for those who don't otherwise like to use color in their eyeshadow choices.

While intimidating to some because of the intensity, I feel that this dose of color is not hard to pull off at all.

The stroke of cornflower blue comes from Mirenesse's Inside Out 27H Eye Kohl in Khnum, as mentioned and swatched here.

I had previously used the Eye Kohl in Atum, also from Mirenesse, and here is another from the brand because I do enjoy using them through this eyeliner-obsessed phase of mine.

For this look, I kept the rest of the lid relatively neutral and kept Khnum the centre of attraction.

Not that it needs any help with that!

While Khnum is an intense shade, I felt like I needed a bit of definition to balance my eye look out so it doesn't look like something avant garde and straight off the runway.

If you are a little more experimental, you may be able to pull off using this as an eyeliner alone!

Though regardless, I feel this works wonderfully (and perfectly well) as an accent liner and it would most likely be how I would be using it.

I did warn you about the eye spam!

With a dash of something so vibrant on my eyes, I kept the rest of my face rather toned down and soft so I don't look too done up. After all, this look was for a simple and casual night out with the hubs.

I took this opportunity to try out one of the new Dior Addict gloss (from Dior's upcoming huge gloss collection) in Beige Songe.

While it appeared promising in the tube, it did go on rather colorless though there was a lovely shimmer and a nice glossy shine. The end result is a very natural effect though thanks to the glossed look, it does give my lips some dimension from a distance.

Product Used:

BROW / FACE
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50 PA+++
Benefit Porefessional
Elisha Coy Always Triple BB Cream
LUV Carat Loose Setting Powder

EYES
NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

Shu Uemura Unmask Eye Palette in Pink
Mirenesse Inside Out 27H Eye Kohl in Khnum
CLIO Professional Brush Liner in Black
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved

CHEEKS
Canmake 3 Blush 1 Highlight in 02

LIPS
Dior Dior Addict Gloss in Beige Songe

Highlighted products were provided by companies/distributors,
I was not obliged to use/feature them in LOTDs.

By now I think that you would all be pretty bored of my face but here's a last look at how the liner fared after 6 hours of wear.

After 6 hours it was still going strong without a fade in intensity or any smudging going on. Though some credit should also be given to NARS's Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base as well!

I think bold colored or glittery liners are a great way to spice up your eye looks when you don't have the time or want to fuss with shadows. Those who steer clear from colored shadows can give the accent liner method a go.

Don't say I didn't warn you, it may just change your (makeup) life!

All that aside, my hair has gotten to the point where I totally dread how it looks, feels and how tough it is to maintain it. It is incredibly heavy, given the length of all the layers now and baby apparently thinks it's a new toy that hangs down from mommy so she grabs and tugs at every opportunity she gets.

Thus! My hair would be facing some changes over this long weekend and I simply can't wait.

I haven't decided what I would like to do with it but I am leaning towards getting it chopped off and trying a refreshingly short length for the new year (a bit late for the 'new year') though I am quite attached to the length of my hair.

I guess we shall see!

Thanks for reading and hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

LOTD: Neutrals with Sparkle (feat. Dior & Mirenesse)

By icyabstract · March 21, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Hello again!

I started off this LOTD with a mind to pull together something Dior-ish but after ransacking my stash, I gave up on that theme due to my lack of Dior in other departments such as eyeliner, loose powder etc.

Instead, I would just call this yet another simple ole neutral. Simple but with a bit of a twist.

Some of the products that I wish to give mention to in this LOTD would be Dior's 5 Couleur palette in Frost Bloom and also Mirenesse's Inside Out 27H Eye Kohl in Atum. Both of which I had given mention to fairly recently.

While the look appears to be the usual neutral, well, who am I kidding it is a neutral regardless! Though let me break it down for you a little and hopefully give the look more 'insight'.

p.s. that 'line' on my nose is a strand of hair, not some weird contouring going on.

The Eye Look –

I first applied MAC's Groundwork paintpot all over the lids and just over the crease (resulting in that warm brown over the crease), followed by Dior's 5 Couleur Palette in Frost Bloom over the inner corner.

Following that, I applied MAC's Henna eyeshadow (limited edition) over the centre and a blend of Stila In the Garden's Moss and Juniper for definition on the outer-corner.

To add just a bit more sparkle to compliment the gold bits in MAC's Henna, I lined my upper lids with Mirenesse's Atum – the beautiful black liner strewn with gold pearls incase you forgot.

The golden pearly glint from Mirenesse's Atum spices up the look in a subtle way. It isn't overly noticeable but can be seen when it catches the light. It's quite lovely!

I know, enough of my eye already but I am uploading this last one because you can actually spy a little of that pearly green-blue tones from the light Dior shade.

On the rest of the face, I kept it warm and coral-y with MAC's Warmth of Coral on the cheeks and Shy Girl (also from MAC) lipstick on the lips.

Products Used:

BROWS / FACE
K Palette Brow Liquid in 01
Maquillage Brow Wax in 77
Biore UV Aquarich Watery Essence SPF 50 PA+++ (silver tube)
Diorskin Nude Liquid Foundation
NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder
MAC Bronzer

EYES
NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base
MAC Groundwork Paintpot
Dior 5 Couleur in Frost Bloom 334 (top right shade)
MAC Eyeshadow in Henna
Stila In The Garden palette (Moss and Juniper)
Mirenesse Eye Kohl in Atum
MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Engraved
Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Feline (Waterproof)

CHEEKS
MAC Mineralzed Blush in Warmth of Coral

LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

And here's another quick LOTD update from me!

While I think the whole ombre hair trend is a little over done, I am actually quite grateful for it because with that around I can pass off my horribly outgrown-and-in-need-of-expert-hands hair as some form of an ombre. ha!

That isn't just my opinion and I have actually gotten some questions from friends regarding that, if I had DIY-ed it or had it done at a salon. Heh.

Though truth is truth, it is overgrown and I will have to do something about it soon. I am making up my mind about whether I should chop it off and try going short (my definition of short is not pixie) or just layer and keep the precious length.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks for reading!

LOTD-ish: Lunar New Year's Go-to Products

By icyabstract · February 13, 2013 · 9 Comments ·

Hello!

Hope that everyone had a great Lunar New Year thus far with visitings, eating and catching up with relatives! For those who don't celebrate it, hopefully the few days of rest was a good recharge!

With past years' New Year celebrations, I would embrace doling up by rummaging my wardrobe for dresses to wear, coupled with heels and all that fun stuff. Followed by enthusiastically bugging the boy to snap my outfits. After all, this is the season to don new or fancy attire and fit right in!

Though this year I had to slack on the whole prepping and go for outfits that are, while new and presentable, practical for baby-carrying and all sorts of baby mess too.

Aside from the attire, I had to be lightning quick with my makeup routine as well, else it would be so far into the day by the time we head out for visitings!

Thus, I thought I would share my go-to products this festive season for a very quick and polished look that lasts well through the day and into the night!

The look that I put together with the above aren't dramatic or overly fancy. In fact, it's such a quick look that some may classify it as an 'everyday look', as opposed to one for an occasion.

But hey, it works for me and my time constraints now so I'm happy with it either ways!

THE FACE ––

For the face, I have been loving Benefit's Porefessional as a base because it smooths out my currently dry skin, giving me the appearance of a flawless complexion.

I have also revived my love for BB creams through this Elisha Coy Nuddy BB 24 BB Cream. I love it so much that I am on the hunt to get the full size for this (the one I have is from a set of 3). Does anyone know where we can get Elisha Coy locally?

After correcting and concealing (0kuma Under Eye Concealer & Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage) , I set it all with my usual LUV Carat Loose Powder along with a dusting of MAC's Mineralized Skinfinish in Medium for some glow. I can't use the MSF alone as its a touch too light and with a heavier hand, it shows.

THE EYES ––

For the eyes, I'll skip the ramble since it is simple and straight-forward but after priming with NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, I use MUFE's Aqua Shadow in 28E for a lovely shine on the lids. Adding some glitz, I dab the sparkly shadow from Dior's 3 Couleur in Nude Glow and finish off with a light crease definition from MAC's Mineralized eyeshadow in Earthly.

Everything else is the usual eyeliner with CLIO Professional Brush Liner and MAC's Powerpoint Liner in Engraved.

Here's a 'step-by-step' visual, for the fun of, though the addition of some glitz with Dior's Nude Glow isn't that visible in pictures.

THE REST  ––

The pop of color I included is done through MAC'S mineralized blush in Merrily and Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Luscious Honey. A quick throwback but I was also using and loving that same lipstick last Lunar New Year!

And an unmentioned yet important thing would be brows, done with K-Palette's Liquid Brow Liner and Maquillage's Brow Wax in 77.

THE LOOK!  ––

So, here's the finished look!

And a blurred eye shot just to showcase the glittery bits from Dior's Nude Glow, which is more visible in person and not translating well in pictures.

Pardon my very blah and un-maintained flat hair. I need to do something about it but I haven't figured out what to do about it or find time to get it fixed too.

Again, the look isn't much but it is good enough to hide my sleep-deprived eyes while looking somewhat fresh for the new year!

After all, I am hardly the spotlight this year. Not that I mind but my cousin humorously commented that even if I showed up in sweats, people would hardly notice since the baby is all they see. Haha!

A random inclusion but if you have noticed, I have been wearing my glasses a lot of late. In fact, I haven't worn contacts since October last year!

The reason these days is because my contacts are monthlies and festivities aside, I have no reason (and time) to doll up much the rest of the month. Though I really do miss the whole full scale makeup look with coats of mascara and all!

But oh well, I'll get to do that sometime in future... When I get more time (and sleep! Cause I hate wearing contacts with tired eyes).

Or does anyone have recommendations on opticians that have dailies for astigmatism? My optician, sadly, doesn't carry those.

Either ways, hope everyone has a great CNY and thanks for reading!

LOTD: Finally, more slap on — MAC's Idol Eyes

By icyabstract · November 14, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

After what had been an incredibly long weekend (I was on leave on Monday too!), I definitely feel more rejuvenated now but... I must admit, it did take a bit of feet dragging to get myself to work.

Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing?

Either ways, I welcomed this break and even found some time to put on a wee bit more makeup than I usually do, which resulted in this LOTD! One reason for ditching the no-makeup look is because the boy's dad's birthday happened during the weekend so there were some dinners, celebrations and... a surprise staycation!

But anyway, here's what I had on my face:

I took this chance to rummage through some of my older palettes and rediscovered MAC's Idol Eyes which is a beautiful icy silver purple tone that isn't over the top yet has a pretty sparkle.

Okay, enough of me spamming eye shots to get across my point of how beautiful the color is.

For blush I revisited MAC's Hang Loose, a pale cool pink mineralized blush. This imparts a soft glow to my complexion but due to it being rather light in tone, it doesn't put down a whole lot of color, which is perfect for what I want.

Random side-note, I have been getting the hang of wearing a necklace again by bringing Poh Heng's Minnie Stellar Petite pendant out and about. Though more of that in another entry.

Products Used:

BROW / FACE
Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF 50 PA +++
Benefit Porefessional
Dior Diorskin Nude liquid foundation
LUV Carat loose face powder (to set)

EYES
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Kate real create eyes in GN-1 (sticky base)
MAC eyeshadow in Idol Eyes
Majolica Majorca palette in BR741 (taupe and dark brown)
CLIO Professional pen liquid liner in black
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
Helena Rubenstein Lash Feline Waterproof (light coat)

CHEEKS
MAC Mineralized Blush in Hang Loose

LIPS
Estee Lauder lipstick in Bali Rose

Highlighted products were provided by companies/distributors,
I was not obliged to use/feature them in LOTDs.

So that wraps up the look!

Incase anyone is interested, here's ending the entry off with some shots of the hotel and weekend happenings, as seen from my instagram!

Hope everyone had a nice break over the past couple of days!

I had a little fun getting somewhat creative with makeup over my long break (nope, not talking about this entry), though I don't mean body painting and all that high-level stuff. Just... as creative as it gets opposed to my usual brows and foundation routine (which doesn't take much creativity!).

I can't wait to share but all will be revealed in due time! I don't want to do that whole mysterious thing but I'm pretty stoked about it, hence dropping a mention ;)

Thanks for reading!

Rambly LOTD: From the Makeup Pouch

By icyabstract · October 27, 2012 · 4 Comments ·

Hello everyone!

Haven't posted any LOTD mentions or popped my face on here in awhile so I thought I would do a rambly 'little' entry with... well, no clear purpose!

It is also partially because I was trying to entertain myself and drafted part of this this up while sitting at the boy's office yesterday, along with snapping the pictures! Long story short, we were out and about when the boy got called in to help out with some last minute design changes etc, those in design... you know, clients.

Anyway, I spent Thursday night back at home-home and since it was an impromptu decision, I didn't bring or pack anything extra.

When it comes to cleansers, moisturizers, clothes and whatnot, thankfully I have those readily available there but when it came time to slap on some makeup before heading out, I had to rely on what I could dig out from my usual makeup pouch.

It's a mad simple look because I don't bring all that much around with me, just enough to touch up the bare minimal - brows, foundation (no concealer even!), liner and lips.

Though in truth this has been how I have been loving my makeup looks lately – simple, put-together and fresh. It could be fresher with some under eye concealer and maybe blush but oh well, we make do...

Plus, my skin has been on a good streak of late so I like the idea of lighter foundations (powder, mainly) to allow the skin to peek through as opposed to packing layers on and 'masking' it. Though I still reach for some liquids and bb creams when I feel like switching around.

Here's what was used and the whole look took me less than 5 minutes:

  • Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF50 PA+++ (which is nearing its end!)
  • MAC Brow Crayon in Flirt
  • K-Palette Real Lasting Eye Pencil (not my absolute fav, but it's decent so I carry it around for touch ups)
  • Shu Uemura Lipgloss in Corona Orange
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder

I don't know if I am having a case of post-haircut-remorse but I somewhat miss my long no-bangs look. Or at least I miss how it looks over in this LOTD entry.

Perhaps I had gotten used to how quick and easy the no-bangs look is that with side-swept ones now, I feel they can be a little fluffy, messy and hard to work with sometimes but oh well... I am sure I will get used to these side-swept bangs again soon.

In my boredom (at the boy's office), I had also snapped shots of other stuff I carry around in my makeup pouch but I'll put that up in a quick entry to follow, just so this isn't too rambly!

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend thus far!

Mine started real great and aside from getting some errands and necessary trips out of the way, I definitely had a great time having a tomyam steamboat session with the fam back on Thursday.

Well, the fam consisting of my brother and mom since my dad was on a work trip abroad and the boy was ot-ing. Though don't pity him too much, he had a sumptuous Korean dinner at work. Ha!

I can't wait for a trip to the airport on Sunday to pick my dad up.

I have no idea why but a part of me just loves going to the airport, strolling around, sitting about and all. How about you?

Can you put together a quick look with the contents within your makeup pouch?
Do share!

Have a great long weekend everyone and thanks for reading!

MAC's take on the Yachiyo? (Holiday 2012 Collection)

By icyabstract · September 27, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

MAC seems to be going on this glam, girly and retro route in the later half of 2012 with the Marilyn Monroe collection followed by their upcoming Holiday 2012 Collection.

(images from tumblr)

While some visuals of the Holiday 2012 Collection Glamourdaze are floating around online, what really caught my eye with this collection is the Special Edition brush set.

Is that MAC's take on the Yachiyo brush? (extreme right brush below)

I don't know MAC's history to a tee and have been falling out of the loop with their updates but... is this the first time they adopted this brush shape?

While I am intrigued in that, I also know what they say about MAC's Special Edition brushes (Made in China, lower quality... etc) but I guess I'll have to see it in person and scout around for reviews before I decide.

As for the collection itself, it is pretty, girly and all sorts of glam/cute but it has yet to jump out at me.

More visuals of the Holiday 2012 collection over on here. It seems no official product information has been released just yet.

Speaking of Yachiyo brushes, I feel tempted to indulge in Hakuhodo's Yachiyo brushes - namely the medium and small one. NARS has a Yachiyo too but that can wait since they will have a counter here eventually.

Has anyone tried Hakuhodo's Yachiyo brushes? Thoughts?

Thanks for reading!

p.s. Random but I kinda like how this entry looks right at the very top with my blog's color theme and all. Heh.

LOTD: Random look with Guerlain Extrait de Rose

By icyabstract · August 26, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

Hello all, hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

A simple and honestly not very fanciful LOTD but I thought I would snap some pics from this makeup get-up I did for a casual dinner out on Saturday.

Initially I wanted to keep with the close-to-nothing-on look and kept my eyeshadow minimal but along the way I decided to reach for a pop of color on the lips, work on a flush on the cheeks and well.. this was what I ended up with!

Products Used:

BROWS / FACE
K-Palette Liquid Brow Liner in 01
Maquillage Brow Wax in 77
Biore Aqua UV Aqua Rich SPF 50PA++
Maybelline BB Stick Foundation
LUV Carat Long Last Face Powder in Natural Beige (to set)

EYES
Cezanne Eye Controller
Stila In The Garden Palette (Breeze, Honey, Nectar, Chinois)
CLIO Professional Liquid Liner in Black
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Feline Black Waterproof

CHEEKS
MAC Mineralized Finish in Smooth Merge

LIPS
Guerlain Shine Automatique in 262 Extrait de Rose (sample tube)

Highlighted products were provided by companies/distributors,
I was not obliged to use/feature them in LOTDs.

For the lips, I decided to be adventurous and reach for this sample tube of Guerlain's Shine Automatique in Extrait de Rose (which I received as a gift with purchase with this haul).

Fuschia or colors that lean towards the pink spectrum is typically not my comfort zone but I was curious about how sparkly this looked and the formula sounds wonderful so... I gave it a shot.

Turns out it isn't as hot a fuschia pink as it appears (thankfully for me) and the formula feels wonderfully luscious on. It has a translucence to it along with a sparkly shine and with decent pigmentation, for this finish.

Here's a closeup shot I accidentally took. You know, when you forget to zoom out and think you're taking a full face shot but you're not?

I'm really liking the formula of the Shine Automatique and feel tempted to check out the other shades available. While I like this, I would totally fancy a red-toned one.

LOTD: Glowy Olives - MAC's Water & Modern Pewter

By icyabstract · August 12, 2012 · 7 Comments ·

Hello, I'm back with a LOTD!

This weekend has been one hellavu but I think I say that for almost every weekend so.. moving on...

I managed to stop being lazy and played around with makeup on both Saturday and Sunday. Though my Sunday look was really nothing to shout about so I skipped taking shots of it. One thing that I did take away from the whole full-face look thing on Sunday is that I've really missed MUFE's HD Foundation! I chucked it to the back of the drawer, only pulling it out again today (for fun) and I'm loving it all over again.

That aside, here's what I wore on Saturday!

Ever since getting the MAC mineralized shadows from Heavenly Creatures, I realized that Earthly aside, I haven't used any of the other eyeshadows. Thus I took Water out to play and paired it with Modern Pewter from an older MAC collection (Extra Dimension).

What can I say, I love my mossy greens! This is probably my zillionth look with moss greens.

While not apparent, there are little flecks of blue shimmer from the sapphire swirls in Water but overall it's a murky olive shade – my kind of color!

It feels fun to be wearing a full face of makeup again even if it means making an effort to stop being makeup-lazy!

And here's the complete look with my current lip obsession - Lancôme L'Absolu Crème de Brilliance lipgloss (seen here)!

Products Used:

FACE / BROWS

Kpalette liquid brow liner in 01
Maquillage brow wax in 77
Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF 50 PA+++
Burberry Fresh Glow Luminuous Fluid Base
Shu Uemura Smooth Fit Fluid Liquid Foundation
LUV Carat Long Last Face Powder in Natural Beige (to set)

EYES
Urban decay primer potion
MAC Extra Dimension Shadow in Modern Pewter
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Water

MAC Shadowy Lady Quad (Smudged Violet & Shadowy Lady)
CLIO Professional Pen Liquid Liner in Black
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Feline Black Mascara (waterproof)

CHEEKS

NARS Powder Blush in Madly
Guerlain Meteorites Perles d'Azur

LIPS

Lancôme L'Absolu Crème de Brilliance lipgloss in 320

Highlighted products were provided by companies/distributors,
I was not obliged to use/feature them in LOTDs.

I tried to go for a downplay-ed blush and lip combo, keeping it rather natural yet not nude.

While keeping that toned down, I wanted to give my skin a muted glow by using Burberry's Fresh Glow beneath my Shu foundation (which is known to give a more skin-like look, not exactly dewy).

I brushed on Guerlain's Meteorites Perles d'Azur very lightly on the high points of the cheeks but that powder is so soft and illuminating that it's not going to make a huge difference in pictures. In person it does add a very subtle glow to the skin, as if you didn't use anything for that.

I think I shall use the Meteorites more during workdays to give my skin some 'life'. Especially since it is so mild I need not worry about any disco ball mess while rushing in the morning.

And that is it! I hope everyone had a good weekend!

Thanks for reading!

Look Feature: MAC Light Year MSF & Lancôme Rouge In Love

By icyabstract · July 27, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

The main point of this look entry is really Light Year MSF but since I hardly wear any eye catching lip shade these days, I thought why not pull Lancôme into the spot light a little.

This look is one that I wore last week but I decided to post up my Heavenly Creatures haul first before sharing my current blush & lip obsession!

While it's from a week back, eyeshadow aside, this has been my cheek + lip combo for 'made-up' looks so essentially I am still wearing this out and about! Until I find something else to fawn over and move on to.

On my eyes here, I have a mix of shades from the Stila In The Garden palette. I dabbed a little green to the centre of my lids but apparently the flash completely washed it out.

On some monitor's color settings, it might seem like I am hardly have any blush on but in truth, Light year wears very softly on me. It's a light flush of coral yet so subtle it's almost like a glow. It does highlight my cheekbones and give a very soft-focus look, which I love!

In sunlight in pictures, it's even harder to tell that I have blush on but in person it's a lovely glow. I am overusing the word glow but there's no other way to describe it.

It brightens the complexion in a non-descript way and when paired with a bolder lip shade, like Lancôme's Rouge in Love in 365N, it plays it up nicely without vying for too much attention.

I don't know if this collection is still available or if Light Year is still in stock but I definitely love and recommend this shade for fairer ladies.

On me, it just shows up. If I layered a little more perhaps I could get some peach to show through but that is at the risk of piling on a heavier sheen! Thus on someone darker than I am, even by half a skintone maybe, this might function more as a neutral-ish highlighter as opposed to a blush color.

So... this is my latest go-to cheek and lip combo. Do share what yours is!

Thanks for reading and happy weekends!

Haul: MAC's Heavenly (Mineralized) Creatures

By icyabstract · July 26, 2012 · 8 Comments ·

It has been a good while since I had any sort of excitement over a MAC release.

Even so, this excitement is of a different scale from before. Back in the day, I would feel a need to stalk the counters, forums for more information and have this desire to grab everything from the collectioin. That's not apparent anymore but I was excited, still.

I took one look at the press visuals for MAC's Heavenly Creatures and with that, the collection stole my heart, my soul and a little bit of cash of out my bank.

Okay, maybe not that little.

I have admitted time and time again that I am a total sucker for MAC's Mineralized releases, namely the blush and skinfinishes.

With this collection, I practiced my honed restrain and kept this haul as minimal as I could. Not that everything was worth getting but because everything just looked so pretty!

It was almost easy peasy when it come to the MSFs. There were 4 shades released and of the 4, 2 were too bronzey / warm for my liking so they were passed. I can justify 2 MSF purchases thus these came home with me.

The super gorgeous Light Year (left) and Star Wonder (right)!

Light Year was love at first sight because... things that easy to wear and 'throw on' just get me that much easier. Star Wonder swatched beautifully but I deliberated for a second and figured, oh what the heck, I'll get it.

Light Year –

Star Wonder –

While the Star Wonder I have appears like an overpowered bronze mix within the pan, the bronziness doesn't show up that way. Like swatches I have seen online, it's almost like a tan pink. Not too loud or bright of a pink, not too red in tone yet not too tan a bronze. Just lovely!

As for blushes, it was truly difficult because aside from Supernova, I kind of liked the rest. Maybe I was on the fence about Stratus too so that puts me in the same situation as the MSFs.

Though after some deliberating, I only caved to Ring of Saturn. I mean, how can I pass up on this? It's gorgeous!

Ring of Saturn –

My swatch doesn't do this the right amount of justice and it seems more orange-toned from online swatches, or maybe my swirl has more 'red' in it. Either ways, as neutral-loving as I have become, I will always have this penchant for crimson blushes along this line.

Think, Intenso, Merrily and Style Demon.

While I think I did a good job with myself on the cheek products, it seems that this time around, the eyeshadows have really swept me away.

I typically pick up one or none of the mineralized eyeshadow releases but this time I walked away with 3.

What can I say, they are just absolutely stunning to admire.

Though truthfully, I find that the shadows this time around seemed lacking and were not as rich or creamy as before (say, In the Groove). Some shades (such as Water) swatched a little on the sheer side and required a bit of work to show up.

Nonetheless I couldn't help myself and I am happy with these, regardless!

Earthly –

From-the-pan, this shade did not catch my eye though after swatching it, I fell in love with how lovely an ashy-taupey-brown it was. It leans a little warm in my picture above but it looks appears ashier in person.

Water –

While Water didn't swatch as pigmented as the rest, in fact it seemed a little 'dry' on formula, I couldn't resist its murky beauty. It is a fairly unique murky forest green and has bits of gold, silver and blue glitter within, probably hardly visible once on your lids but... I couldn't resist.

Bright Moon –

Of the lot that I picked up, Bright Moon has the best pay-off and felt the creamiest to swatch. It comes off as a silver with a lovely tinge of blue / teal, though I am guessing that would barely show up on the lids but I shall remind myself it's there.

The eyeshadows in Heavenly Creatures are really something you need to swatch and see in person. Judging from pan colors, it's really hard to make a verdict as to what will come out of each swirl! Case in point, Water!

So... maybe I lied when I said I didn't feel that eager to get these. MAC's Mineralized items are known to sell like hotcakes so I troubled Eliza to help me pick up some stuff when she dropped by the counter since I wasn't going to one till everything is pretty much sold out. So, thank you Eliza!

I think I am satisfied enough with my indulgence in the Mineralized world and can probably hold my fort a little more when another collection comes out.

Unless it's drop dead gorgeous, like this one.

Thanks for reading! Did you haul anything from Heavenly Creatures?
