LOTD: Lancôme Weekend Look (Feat. Moonlight Rose Highlighter)

By icyabstract · September 24, 2012 · 5 Comments ·

Hello!

A post or rather a look from the weekend that is sadly now over. I like to have a little optimism every Monday and think, 5 more days to the weekends! That makes it sound less of a stretch, no?

I am probably just being delusional all by myself here.

But anyway, in the midst of playing around with some new things (in a casual weekend makeup manner), I had unintentionally done up a Lancôme-laden look.

I tested out one of the Lancôme Ombre Hypnose Mono Eyeshadows I had received (Vert Innocent) because it was such a beautiful shade just beckoning to be used.

I paired this with MAC's Henna (a rustic olive-gold) on the outer corner and Club for some definition, as opposed to my other Lancôme mono eyeshadow picks which were more suited for a 'made-up' look.

More about these Lancôme Ombre Hypnose Mono Eyeshadows soon!

With this weekend look I also got the chance to snap shots of how Lancôme's Moonlight Rose Blush Highlighter looks like on.

Due to its silver-pink tinge, it does give off a slight pink-ish touch of color along with the moonlit glow, it's faint but still lovely.

(click to enlarge and inspect the 'bling'!)

Aside from using it solely as a highlighter, I also love layering this over my matte and satin pink blushes. However in this look I have it only on the high points of my cheek (and a little on the apples).

Highlighted products were provided by companies/distributors,
I was not obliged to use/feature them in LOTDs.

Simple eye look with a light wash of color, nothing new here!

I feel like I am seated within a comfortable and non-adventurous corner with my makeup usage now, in terms of looks I prefer and 'go-to'.

It could be partly due to my laziness with contact lenses and my preference of glasses because honestly, contact lens plus tired eyes is just no fun at all. If anything, that combo makes me feel even sleepier, does anyone else get that?

Here's the final look with frames.

I feel that this hairstyle coupled with frames make me feel super dorky.

I am at a stage where I have no clue what to do with my hair hence it looking like a choatic mess right now in terms of both style and color. I can't decide if I should grow my bangs out for the heck of or go back to having bangs?

What do you think? Have bangs again or go with the no bangs look?

Hope everyone is having a great start of the week! Remember, 5 more days to the weekends :)

Thanks for reading!

Look Feature: MAC Light Year MSF & Lancôme Rouge In Love

By icyabstract · July 27, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

The main point of this look entry is really Light Year MSF but since I hardly wear any eye catching lip shade these days, I thought why not pull Lancôme into the spot light a little.

This look is one that I wore last week but I decided to post up my Heavenly Creatures haul first before sharing my current blush & lip obsession!

While it's from a week back, eyeshadow aside, this has been my cheek + lip combo for 'made-up' looks so essentially I am still wearing this out and about! Until I find something else to fawn over and move on to.

On my eyes here, I have a mix of shades from the Stila In The Garden palette. I dabbed a little green to the centre of my lids but apparently the flash completely washed it out.

On some monitor's color settings, it might seem like I am hardly have any blush on but in truth, Light year wears very softly on me. It's a light flush of coral yet so subtle it's almost like a glow. It does highlight my cheekbones and give a very soft-focus look, which I love!

In sunlight in pictures, it's even harder to tell that I have blush on but in person it's a lovely glow. I am overusing the word glow but there's no other way to describe it.

It brightens the complexion in a non-descript way and when paired with a bolder lip shade, like Lancôme's Rouge in Love in 365N, it plays it up nicely without vying for too much attention.

I don't know if this collection is still available or if Light Year is still in stock but I definitely love and recommend this shade for fairer ladies.

On me, it just shows up. If I layered a little more perhaps I could get some peach to show through but that is at the risk of piling on a heavier sheen! Thus on someone darker than I am, even by half a skintone maybe, this might function more as a neutral-ish highlighter as opposed to a blush color.

So... this is my latest go-to cheek and lip combo. Do share what yours is!

Thanks for reading and happy weekends!

Lancôme Contest: Share Your Moments in Love!

By icyabstract · June 14, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

From now till the 1st of July, Lancôme wants you to share your Moments in Love.

Like the theme of Rouge in Love, Lancôme wants to know what makes you fall in love with Morning, Sunday and Tonight. All you have to do is share those captured moments via Instagram (more info to come) and stand to win a hamper worth more than S$500!

The only catch to this is that you will need to be able to download Instagram on your mobile device (it's free for iPhones and Androids!) or have a way to create an Instagram account.

Here's an adorable step by step run-down of how to take part!

Or if you are lazy to click and view in full, summing it up...

Step 1: Download Instagram and create an account

Step 2: Upload an image of your Moment in Love

Step 3: Depending, tag it with #inlovewithmorning, #inlovewithsundown or #inlovewithtonight - The tag is VERY important because if it is misspelt it will not be 'entered'!

Step 4: Get your friends to 'like' your image on Lancôme's Moments in Love webpage!

There will be 1 winner chosen from each moment (3 winners total) and the winners are decided based on the number of likes. Now before any confusion, likes on instagram does not count! Only likes via lancomesg.com/momentsinlove counts!

To vote, your friends will have to select which category your image is under, find your picture and click on the little heart at the bottom-left of your image.

You can also choose to share your image on Facebook if you are afraid your friends cannot find it.

If you are not in it for the competition, I think it is still fun to share the moments that you love from Morning, Sundown and Tonight and make this a giant visual compilation. It would be such fun to browse this and see what moments people are in love with and perhaps (friends or not) vote for some that you love too!

If you are an active instagrammer, what's there to lose and if you have abandoned your Instagram for awhile, now's a good time to get back to it!

Thanks for reading and good luck everyone, can't wait to see all your moments!

Lip Swatches: Lancôme Rouge in Love - 132M & 365N

By icyabstract · June 3, 2012 · 4 Comments ·

After patiently waiting for word after the US launch of it, Rouge in Love is finally available island-wide on our shores!

Though, as I had mentioned in the introductry entry, our shades are not the same as the US in terms of formulation and color selection.

I would admit, I was initially bummed-at-first-swatch due to the expectation I had of a vividly creamy and opaque color, only to be met with a glossy and slightly translucent swatch.

Though after giving this a chance, my mind has been changed and I am starting to enjoy how these lipsticks look and feel on.

I have 2 shades to share but before I delve into the shades, I first want to showcase the elegant-looking lipstick bullet.

The 'panel' with Rouge in Love inscripted on is meant to mirror a... mirror! The idea is hinting at the romantism of scribbling a note on the mirror for your lover who hasn't risen from slumber.

There are also stocking holstery designs along the side (how sexy) and a very classic looking lipstick base design.

Quickly recapping, Lancôme's Rouge in Love lipsticks aim to capture 3 different moods and times of the day - Morning, Evening and Night.

It was incredibly hard settling for just one or two when you have 27 beautiful shades in front of you but after much swatching, I ended up with one for the morning and one for the night.

In order of time, let's start with 132M, Corail in Love.

Coincidentally, when I was checking out the US Rouge in Love swatches, I zoomed in on their version of Corail in Love (which isn't entirely the same as ours).

The version we get appears to be more coral, less pink (I think?) and with a natural edge due to the translucent glossiness.

This is a perfect perk-me-up lip color without looking too stark despite the inclusion of coral - refreshing yet subtle for the day!

Moving on to the night, this was honestly the hardest as I was choosing between 3 shades. After much deliberation and re-swatching, I settled for 365N, Rose Grenadine.

I don't know how to describe this color but it's not quite a red, has hints of corals from the tube yet seems to pull pink when swatched on me.

On my hands, this swatched a little more coral than my other picks but on my lips, it seems to have morphed into a rosey pink tone.

The pinky tone it took on my lips was unexpected because I made sure to choose the one that swatched least pink amidst my options thus I think these lipsticks are those you really have to try on and see for yourself!

Kas has Rose Grenadine too and check out how it wears on her!

Hand swatches can only do so much and in most cases it doesn't do the lipsticks justice either because they may appear 'blah' and 'similar' that way.

Corail in Love and Rose Grenadine appeared quite close when swatched on my hands yet once applied, they are indeed like night and day.

On my lips, I find these to wear good for about 4 hours without eating. They glide on the lips effortlessly and feel light-weight on, almost reminiscent of my Maquillage Glossy Lip Rouge, except with more color to them.

They did not feel drying on nor do they supplement balm-like hydration but it was good enough for me.

I find that the Night color seems to leave a soft stain on the lips even after it wears (light dabbing after meals) off, leaving a natural altered liptone. Though this can be removed by wiping it off properly.

In all I have grown to love the textures of these lipsticks, especially Corail in Love, and while they may not have been what I expected, it didn't disappoint me either. While I love the jaw-dropping pigmentation of opaque cream lipsticks, I do realize that I tend to reach for glossy lipstick finishes that wear comfortably on - especially so for a day look.

Even if lipsticks aren't your thing, I urge you to give these 27 shades a look, a swatch and maybe a try. If you are a lipstick fiend... well, what are you waiting for, 27 shades are calling out to you!

Lancôme Rouge in Love retails for S$40 and is available at all Lancôme counters.

Winners for Lancôme's Rouge in Love Giveaway

By icyabstract · June 3, 2012 · 1 Comment ·

Alas!

Here are the winners for the Lancôme Rouge in Love contest I ran on my blog a couple of entries back.

I wanted to do something a little fun or different with picking the winners but as it turns out, I hardly even had time to and resorted to my usual means. Random.org, the giveaway life-saver.

After filtering through the comments, I ended up with 49 legit entries (point of contact + right answer) and these are the 3 winners!

Congratulations to the following 3 for winning a Rouge in Love deluxe sample lipstick!

(counted as one entry)

I will be sending out an email to you all shortly!

For everyone else, thank you so much for participating and if you are interested in the Rouge in Love collection, it is currently out island-wide so you can get busy swatching the 27 different shades available!

Also a big thank you to Lancôme for giving me the opportunity to share these giveaways with you all!

Seeing that (Rouge in) love is in the air, I would be posting up some lip swatches and sharing my thoughts about these lippies, since I haven't done that just yet.

Thanks for reading and hope your weekend has been going smashing so far!

Introducing Lancôme's Rouge in Love + Quick Giveaway! (Closed)

By icyabstract · May 27, 2012 · 56 Comments ·

It really is the season for letting your lips do the talking and it's hard to deny that now as Lancôme looks to roll out 27 new shades in June with their upcoming Rouge in Love line.

This line has been launched in the US way ahead and created a frenzy of it's own. If you have been stalking the US swatches and waiting for it to be launched here, well... word is that the formula and even colors we are getting differs.

We will be getting the 'Asian version' of the lipsticks in 27 pearlescent and glossy shades while the US received 21 shades in a more cream-finish formula (at least what I gather from the swatches).

The 27 different shades are classified into 3 categories, or rather 3 different moods for your day.

You know how we often have certain lipsticks that we wear 'during the day' or for a 'casual evening out with girlfriends' or perhaps that sultry one for a 'party through the night'.

Well that is exactly the different moments and moods that Lancôme wished to capture with Rouge in Love's 3 categories.

Jolis Matins - the morning, a beautiful day
Boudoir Time - cosy catchups in the late afternoon
Tonight is My Night - the magic of the night, moments to be seized

Each 'moment' does carry a healthy range of shades so you will still be able to find reds within Jolin Matins and lighter corals with Tonight is My Night.

The overall tone does get more sultry through the moments but there are still enough shades to pick one that best represents you!

Denoted with the letter 'M' within the name.

Jolis Matins shades - Fresh, natural and radiant with a hint of pearl particle to instantly get you in the mood and start your day!

--

Denoted with the letter 'B' within the name.

Boudoir Time shades - Punchy shades that are electrified with intense pearl particles to charm while you chill.

--

Denoted with the letter 'N' within the name.

Tonight is My Night shades - Sultry, seductive and enchanting with an infusion of golden pearl particles to mirror the twinkling of city lights.

While the above isn't the best representation of the colors, it does give you a rough idea of the 'tone' within each moment.

I managed to get the chance to preview all the 27 shades in person and while I didn't swatch every single one of them, here are some of my favorite picks or colors that really appealed to me.

I know, here are only 7 sad swatches from the lot of 27 but have no fear! Evonne had done the tedious task of swatching all 27 shades, so do hop on over to her entry to check them out!

I will share more information about the lipstick wear time and lip swatches in a later post but this is merely a brief introduction to this extensive lipstick collection that will be available to us coming June!

The lipsticks will retail for S$40 and if you feel too overwhelmed to make your choice now, the good thing is that this range will be permanently available at Lancôme counters!

Long entry aside, Giveaway time!

Lancôme had generously offered to giveaway deluxe-sized samples (cute little Rouge in Loves!) to 3 of my readers!

All you have to do is watch the following video clip directed by Adria Petty and set to music by Brigitte for the promotion of Rouge in Love.

After watching, simply answer, "Who is the Popular Actress featured within the video?"

Comment below with the following in order to qualify!

  • your email address
  • your answer to the question

This contest will run till 31st May, open to those residing in Singapore only.

I will randomly choose 3 winners from the mix of correct answers and notify you all again after! Good luck!

Thanks for reading!
