Hello!
This week has been all sorts of insane and it's only past the halfway mark! Though I've stopped being very optimistic about and looking forward to the relief of weekends because frankly there isn't much of a difference! When I'm not doing work-work, I'm doing my design-work so either ways... okay, halting my mini rant.
Amidst this crazy week, I wanted to squeeze out some time to drop by, say hi and introduce these adorable little things I received about a week back.
Like I mentioned, blogging is therapeutic so... I'm not 'wasting time', I'm de-stressing when I find the chance :)
❧
First off, it came in this super old-school paper bag and because I wasn't expecting it (actually, more of forgot about it), it was a real surprise.
Guest featuring my mother's old school-ish table cloth as the background because I felt it was appropriate.
Also, I have no idea who that adorable baby photo belongs to and I'm assuming it's surely not a promo visual? Perhaps one of the girls from Starasia but regardless, it's such a cute shot!
Content-wise, it's all sorts of nostalgic and I applaud the effort taken to find these old school trinkets!
Oh, the memories...
If the title hasn't given it away and you are looking at this picture going... what am I suppose to look at? Well, it's these bottle caps right here!
At first glance they seem like plastic bottle cap replicates, perhaps for a screw-top bottle drink? Or is a mini container to put your loose change?
Truth is, they are actually lip balms from Lip Smackers!
Lip Smackers had launched soda-flavered lip balms before and thus this is nothing new to them yet the packaging reinvention does add some life, or rather brings you back to the life that was!
Available in 3 different flavors – Coca Cola, Fanta Orange and Sprite – these are 3.4g in weight, a little short of the 4.0g that came with the tube balms from before.
Here's my battered tube twist-up which coincidentally gave it last twist 2 nights ago.
Texture-wise they feel the same as the tube balms - a little firm but with slip.
I find that texture works great for a tube twist-up though in terms of a pot balm, I prefer something that isn't as firm. Reason being, I had to go to-and-fro the balm and my lips a couple of times to get enough on there, what I feel is enough to last me that is.
It works good for light dabs of balm but if I am using this at night or after a shower, I like to slather my balm on which this texture works better with for a direct application.
The good is that there's no crazy mushy mess when opening this and it's not very greasy feeling either.
It keeps my lips hydrated and moisturized through the nights and that is what ultimately matters.
No idea why is says Lip Gloss, but it's honestly more of a balm...
These smell like a candi-fied version of the sodas and of the 3, I have to say I love Sprite the most.
In reality, I am a mad Coca Cola lover but I think the zesty lemon in the Sprite balm won me over from it's gummy-ish counterparts. They have a mild sweet taste to them, nothing as pointed as the soda itself. Though mixing the scent and taste, your brain does give you the illusion that you are tasting the soda or a gummy version of it at least.
I think these are pretty cute collectibles for those who love soda enough to catch whiffs of it often without the calories or perhaps those swayed by the nostalgia of the packaging!
These Lip Smackers are retailing at S$6.90 at selected Watsons stores!
