While a part of me was itching to change my nail color, the other part of me was too caught up with hectic-ness to sit down, scrub off my current manicure and paint a fresh new one. While it's not terribly time consuming, the part where you are waiting for your polish to dry and hoping you don't ram it against something and ruin it is always the scariest.

Even with a super quick drying topcoat, if you are hurriedly sketching ideas and punching keyboard shortcuts... stuff will happen.

So instead of a brand new manicure, I thought to refresh the current one and while this looks even more time consuming, I assure you it's not.

With a little bit of tape and OPI's Red Shatter Polish (thanks Amy!), I have this!

Tape manicures may seem like a huge hassle but in this case it is wasn't much of a mean feat. It doesn't take much to cut a little triangle and I reuse one piece of tape for 2 nails, though you really have to press it down good on use #2.

Shatter polishes also dry real quick, plus if they do chipped or ''poked'... all the more for that shattered effect!

I topped everything with Seche Vite Fast Dry Topcoat after.

Not a very clean cut or uniformed tip and a totally shoddy image overall but I'm cheered by the minor refreshment to my nail color.

Unlike most polishes where you have to hold it upclose to admire it's beauty in all forms of light, I think this is best admired from a considerable distance so you don't see the itsy bitsy flaws.

The Red Shatter reminds me of a rose petal's texture. Now if only I was able to represent an image of a rose on my nails, that would be cool. Nonetheless, I'll most likely be changing this out over the weekends when I get time.

Slowly but surely, I am making my way down the list of polishes I have acquired but not worn. Sometimes I get carried away by the prettiness of newer shades, other times I just completely forget what I have.

Nonetheless, I wanted something soft and picked up this Topshop polish that Pearlin had given to me for my 21st (thank you!). Since it's such a soft color, I wasn't expecting a name as... powerful (?) as Cyclone but Cyclone it is!

Perhaps it is to signify the blur as a result of the gushing and rushing of wind and water? That makes some sense I suppose...

I layered on 3 coats for my desired opacity as with 2, because this is a light pearly color, the nail bed peaks through still.

While it looks like a pearly silvery-white shade above, it actually has a tinge of greyish lavender to it. It's not obvious when you look at it on it's own but against a white backdrop, it shows.

In person it looks like a greyish pearl with the lavender only showing up under bright light (e.g. the sun).

With flash, the lavender tones die down a little and just seem like a greyish pearl.

While it's honestly not evident in person, this polish contains very minute and fine shimmer flecks which probably doesn't matter.

While it isn't streaky, it does have a pearl quality to it which means the brush strokes may tend to show up if it hits the light. You can probably see slight a little bit of that happening in the swatch pictures.

I didn't snap a shot of the brush but it was a little shorter than what I was used to. Though I didn't encounter any difficulties with using it, it just took some getting used to.

it's a pretty and soft color to wear and at first glance it resembled what I have seen on Cafe Makeup of Chanel's Fall nail polish release (Frenzy) but it's clearly not the same. Frenzy is probably a cream and it appears much darker in terms of grey tones, bordering on some nude in the runway pictures?

Regardless, that means they aren't similar and I have to have Frenzy... right? But Fall is such a long time away.
