What Came in the Mail (Lush + Kent Hairbrushes)

By icyabstract · January 14, 2010 · 16 Comments ·

A quick entry on packages I had received today. I'm going to start by saying I didn't pay for the items I am going to feature. One was a gift and the other was sent to me by a company, hence no haul term in the title. Next I am going to try and make this entry snappy because I have to come up with some stuff for class tomorrow and I don't think I have done enough just yet *gulps*

Today was a tiring day of events; no classes, but we had some client meeting with HSBC and some other school stuff. So coming home to these packages was just awesome, I am sure we all experience that same feeling quite often (:

The first package was from Joyce (crystalkiss).

Earlier this week Joyce had mailed me saying that she had purchased Rockstar soap from Lush, sampled it a little and really didn't like the scent of it. Learning from (I think) my recent Lush haul video that I absolutely adore Rockstar soap, she offered to send me the rest of her soap since she didn't use it anyway. That was a super super sweet gesture - thank you so much Joyce!

On top of sending the soap, she had sent me a Chocolate mask as well.
Super excited to try that one out! When I first opened the pack I thought for a moment that she had sent me chocolates because the first thing I saw were the little cube designs.
Thanks again Joyce!
Rockstar makes me happy, I don't know why but it just does. (:

Next item I got in the mail is from Velvut, and they are Kent Brushes.
I had been sent these by Roger Khor, from Velvut. Roger had mentioned that there was no obilgations to review and all, but I thought I would share this. So sharing is my decision, I am not forced or asked to do it (:
For those who didn't read my first entry about Kent Brushes (I'm guessing most have already?) you can click this spot.

Now I know the different company names can get a little confusing but a quick recap. Velvut is the exclusive distributor of Kent Brushes and while Kent Brushes itself is a company and all, in my entries about them, I'll refer to them as a product and Velvut as the company. I hope that made sense. The links in my entries would typically be directed to Velvut's catalog and website, I have explained briefly about Kent Brushes on my first post about them but if you need any additional information you can find it on their main site (which I will not be referencing very often - just this once so click while you can! haha).

Anyway, Kent is said to be more renowned for their hair brushes, so I excited to be able to try some out.

Here's a break down and close up of the brushes for those interested. I haven't used these yet, just briefly brushes through my hair with them so I can't say much about them. But I have provided links to the website if you wish to check out more info about each brush and what it specializes in.

Also, the brushes that I had received were chosen by Roger according to my hair type (I believe he classified it as Long/Thick). Choosing the right brushes will depend on your own hair type, if you have thinner hair, shorter hair etc. I'm including this incase anyone is thinking to get these brushes, just to prevent anyone from buying the wrong type.

LPB1 - The Original Paddle Brush! Large (more info)

What first caught my eye about this brush would have to be the handles! Even the back of the brush (not pictured) is decorated with such designs, so nostalgic.

The next brush was something very very different from any hair brush I have ever owned.
This brush is made from natural bristles and is said to be great for distributing sebum from the scalp to hair tips so that is very interesting indeed! Can't wait to use this one.

CFSL - Pure Natural Bristle Midnight Ruby Large (more info)

Kent is best known for their natural/pure bristle brushes and this one falls under one of their more premium categories.
Here is a closer look at the bristles:

The brush pack itself comes with a brush cleaner and also a manual on how to take care of the brush, washing process and all (manual not pictured).

This next brush might look quite familiar. Mainly because it is the prize for the Kent brushes giveaway that I am currently holding.
Fret not! I didn't steal one of the prizes. Roger was very kind as to send one of them to me for me to sample what I was giving away.

AHGLO1 - For Medium to Long, Thick Hair (more info)

The handle for this brush is incredibly comfortable! And the material is quite unique. It feels rubbery (think NARS) but not like NARS whereby it attracts stuff. I can't describe it but the handle is really nice to hold and touch. You can ask my brother...  I was going around asking my family to touch it.
And random note, I got it in orange, yay~

Last but definitely not least, I was sent the very first hair brush from Kent that I had ever talked about...

ARTH1 - 4 designs (more info)

I got the Cat design!

*squeals* It's so cute!
This was a total random thing and I thought it was really nice of Roger to have noticed me talking about this brush in my first entry and for sending it to me. I am definitely throwing this little baby in my makeup out-and-about pouch. It would be so fun to whip this out in the Ladies.

But anyway, before I get carried away, this was what I received from Velvut.
Again a big thank you to Roger Khor for thinking to send me these!

And also thank you all so very much reading!
Hope you have a great rest of the week. I certainly am not looking forward to mine, I have so much work planned all the way to the weekend and as the weeks go by it's just getting worst.
I shall persevere! (:
