Introduction/Review: Za Cosmetics Plumper Lips

By icyabstract · November 6, 2010 · 10 Comments ·

Za had launched a new range of lip products, Za Plumper Lips, to accommodate the Fall/Winter makeup trend. According to their market research, lip color is the main focus on the catwalk this time around. Whats more, with a survey that was conducted, Za has adapted that trend to the top demands of the Asian market:

  • Plump, three-dimensional lips
  • Lips with Moisture
  • Ripe Lips

I dropped by the Shiseido office awhile back to preview this collection. I admit I am a little behind with churning stuff out, apologies to that! Since it is already out, do still read on to find out more about this new range of lip products from Za!

I had sadly not brought a camera so I just had to snap some photos using my mobile phone (was using Nokia E71 then) while at the Shiseido office.

Za had brought in 9 lipstick shades and 6 lipgloss shades for the range in Singapore.

What is so special about the Plumper Lip range is that they are formulated with Fill-Up Collagen and Plump Up Pearls.

  • Fill-Up Collagen - smoothens, conditions the lip surface and helps retain moisture
  • Plump Up Pearls - Diffuse and reflect light from lips to minimise the appearance of fine lines

The overall summary of this lip range is that it's meant to give you that gorgeous luscious pucker with a glossy and shimmery finish without drying your lips out and even buffering any finelines you might have. That sounds pretty good to me!

The Plump Up Pearls have an added feature to help color correct your lips, ideal for those who love natural/red colors . It supposedly brings a reddish tint to your lips over long term usage. I don't know how I feel about that since I love my nudes but I haven't personally noticed any color difference. Maybe I have been alternating my lipsticks too much.

We were allowed to pick 2 lipsticks and 2 lipglosses from the collection to try out. Knowing my penchant for nudes, I thought it would be clear which shades I would end up picking. However, after I started swatching them picking just 2 each proved much harder then I thought!

I don't have decent swatch photos of entire range so these lovely photos are taken by Mag (makeupstash).

The colors in the range are all wearable and super pretty. I especially love the lipgloss and it's ultra-glossiness.

After much dilemma, I did manage to pick out 2 each. Though I do see myself dropping by to pick up some of the colors I was hovering on since these are so economically priced (prices at the end).

Za Plumper Lips Lipsticks

04 Rose Vintage

06 Pink Pearl

The lipsticks are quite creamy and glide on the lips easily. From photos you can see that the lipstick comes packed with loads of tiny little sparkle/shimmers. Those help to reflect light off your lips to give it a dimensional look, they do not enhance finelines in any way. I find the lipstick moisturizing and easy to apply with no fuss of smoothing it out with your finger etc. One thing I noticed is the finish of this lipstick isn't as wet-look-glossy, more of a shine.

Za Plumper Lips Lipgloss

03 Honey Pink

09 Playful Pink

I don't normally go for pink glosses or something so pink in general but Playful Pink is truly a lovely pink shade.

I absolutely love the lipglosses in this range. Again the sparkles and shimmers are evident to provide a more luscious look and it does not enhance fine lines either. I primarily love how glossy it looks on and while they aren't sticky (think MAC) I guess you can't escape from the typical gloss texture. It is not a thin runny texture so it doesn't slip and slide, it's slightly thicker but it makes for a lovely finish on the lips.

I will upload proper lip swatch photos of all 4 (or maybe more if I pick some up) lip products. For now though, I had taken a dailybooth photo while I had Playful Pink lipgloss and on some had enquired if I had MAC's Viva Glam Gaga lipstick on.

I don't own Viva Glam Gaga so I can't compare, but without that comparison, I sitll believe this is a lovely shade of pink.

These are currently available at Watsons for the following prices:

Za Plumper Lips Lipstick - S$13.90
Za Plumper Lips Lipgloss - S$9.90

On top of that, they are currently having special box set promotions!
Purchase the Cutie Curl Mascara or Za Dramatic Eye Color and get a free Eyelash Curler / Pink Mirror plus Deep Cleansing Oil (15ml)

Till then, will post up my review ratings along with the swatch entry.

Thanks for reading!
