LOTD: My Everyday Work Look

By icyabstract · February 12, 2009 · 5 Comments ·

As most of you would have known by now, simply because I constantly mention it, I am currently doing my internship.
Thus, that means that my usually funky/colored makeup looks are no longer valid on a daily basis and are strictly reserved for weekends or nights out.

As the title mentions, I would be showing you guys the default look that I wear to work almost everyday. Do note that I would switch things up when I feel a little creative or a little more awake at 8am in the morning but this is typically what I grab when I'm doing my makeup in my half-asleep mode.

I took these photos using my parent's digi-cam instead of my SLR and it makes my skintone look reddish and it doesn't pick up color too well, just so you know. But it's fairly decent when I'm too lazy to operate my SLR in the morning. But the brown in the crease is honestly slightly darker in person.

Products Used:

FACE
- SANA Makeup Base
- Za Powder Foundation (Blue casing)
- Revlon's Powder Blush in Tawny Peach (usually interchangeable)

EYES
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- LA Girl Platinum Shadow in Honey Sprinkles (light skin tone brown)
- LA Girl Platinum Shadow in Cappuccino (crease color)
- MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
- Maybelline Unstoppable Mascara (no mascara for this look though)

LIPS
- Vaseline Lip Therapy
- MAC Lipglass in C-Thru

*The products in italics are subject to change depnding on my mood for that morning.

So yes, I know the pictures are crappy and this isn't an all so amazing look but I thought I'd just let you guys know what my fool-proof default makeup look to work is. And oh yes, I almost forgot, I'm not wearing mascara in these photos because my eyes had gotten a little irritated due to the flaking of Maybelline's Turbo Boost so I'm skipping mascara for a week or so.

LOTD: Brown plums and nude lips

By icyabstract · February 10, 2009 · 0 Comments ·

I know I haven't done a lotd post in a really long time. My bad guys, it's just that I have to rush through my makeup process every morning just so I can get to work on time and taking photos of my lotd was simply out of the question.
BUT! I did manage to take a quick shot of the look that I wore to work last Friday because I actually managed to get up before my alarm rang (surprise, surprise!).
I must admit that this is a fairly dramatic look to wear to work, but since I had an event to attend to after work, I decided to go all out.

p.s. I know the left (your left) eye looks lighter, but trust me, it's the lighting.

Products Used:

FACE
- SANA Makeup Base
- ZA Powder Foundation
- Revlon Powder Blush in Tawny Peach

EYES
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Majolica Majorca palette in BR799 (plum-brown on outer corner)
- 28 Color Neutral Palette (light brown all over lid)
- Rhomlon Black e/s (lightly on outer-v)
- MAC powerpoint pencil in Engraved
- Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Primer
- Revlon Luxurious Length Mascara

LIPS
- Vaseline Lip Therapy
- NYX Round Lipstick in Circe

So that's the LOTD.
I know the lips are fairly dead-nude, but that's what I was going for. Most people shun the dead-nude look a lot but I really do like it, and in person it really doesn't make me look like I'm sick or anything.

sidenote: My hair-color looks funky in the second picture. All the highlights and crazy stuff showing. Did not know my hair had so much 'color' in it.

Tutorial: Mandy Moore's Cry Music Video Look

By icyabstract · January 13, 2009 · 0 Comments ·

I had been requested by lthilien84 (on youtube) to do a tutorial for the look that Mandy Moore had in her Music Video, Cry.

This is the look I had to recreate. The quality is crappy because it was screen-grabbed, but if you wish to see the Music Video, click here.

And this was what I came up with!
Note that I do know her eye look does tend to be a bit more silvery and little less heavy on the brown, but I guess you can tune that to your needs.
Also, as I had mentioned in the tutorial video, Mandy Moore is probably surrounded by studio lightings and that washes her look out a little (and makes the silver-grey shimmery) so if mine's a little too 'deep' as compared to hers, that's why.

Products Used:
EYES
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Majolica Majorca Cream Shadow in WT904
- 88 Color Palette (colors mentioned in video)
- Maybelline Gel Liner in Black
- Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara

CHEEKS
- MAC Blush in Harmony
- ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

LIPS
- MAC Lipstick in Peachstock
- Majolica Majorca Lipgloss in BE706

Alright, thanks for reading you guys and I know I haven't posted my John Little Sale LOTD yet, but I would soon!
I'm just procrastinating on editing the pictures right now. haha.

Hayley Williams Inspired Tutorial

By icyabstract · December 19, 2008 · 2 Comments ·

And before I get some confusion I'd just like to say that this is inspired by the look Hayley Williams had on while singing Decode live at the Jimmy Kimmel show.

Here are some photos and the link to the tutorial.

TUTORIAL LINK// Hayley Williams (Decode Live @ Jimmy Kimmel) Inspired Look

LOVES.

Quick update! Plus my interview lotd.

By icyabstract · December 14, 2008 · 2 Comments ·

I'm back people!
I wish I could say that I'll be able to update insanely often from now on but sadly, I can't promise you guys that just yet as I'm not quite done with my final projects/presentations.

Anyway, I wanted to drop by to say really quickly that I really do apologize for not having update this as often over the past week because school's being really hard on me as it's the end of the term and all. On top of that, we've got t scout for interviews and internships and honestly, being in the whole 'professional field' thing is pretty taunting.
Aside from school, my parents had actually gone for a trip over the week and sadly I was unable to go with them because of school and all thus I was left home alone... for 5 days!
But being me, I absolutely can't stand being alone in an empty house for 5 days straight, I went over to stay at my boyfriend's place and had conveniently forgotten to take my laptop since it was a rushed packing session.
I didn't have the house keys you see, and thus I was left without my beloved macintosh for 5 days and boy am I glad to get it back today :D

Nuff said, that's pretty much what has been going on,
And on a more makeup related term, here's what I wore to my interview.
It's basically an extremely natural look in my terms. A little too natural for my liking, but what can I say, first impressions are oh-so-important.

I can't quite remember what I had used since it was like 7 in the morning when I was getting ready, but here's what I think I used:

Products Used:

Face
- Silky Girl Perfect Liquid Foundation
- MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium
- LA Girl Blush in Natural
- ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Eyes
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Nonna Palette (I got this from Batam, the colors used were a cream beige and a light brown)
- MAC Powerpoint Eyepencil in Engraved
- Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara

Lips
- MAC lipstick in Peachstock
- Majolica Majorca Gloss (forgot which one)

With that being said, thank you guys for being so patient and I promise that I'll try to update as soon as I can.
Much loves!

Soft Everyday Purple LOTD

By icyabstract · November 19, 2008 · 0 Comments ·

Okay, this is going to be my last entry for the day, I swear.

Here's the look I wore out today to collect my laptop and to (I guess) shop around the Raffles district a little.
It's a fairly simple and neutral (in my opinion) purple look which could be used as a everyday look if you feel that you love purple shadows so much that you wouldn't mind wearing it everyday.
I personally am alright with purple, but I would honestly wear black everyday without a doubt. However I have been fairly into neutral and softer looks of late.
I guess it's the whole "fall" transition and being affected by all the fall looks popping up on youtube.

Anyhoo, this is the look and if anyone wants me to do a tutorial on this look (or any of my lotds that is), simply request for it!
Via e-mai/private message/or youtube message, do not request in the tagboard as I might miss it.

I know I look odd, didn't feel very "photogenic" today. Lol.

As you can tell I'm into the whole "nude lids with color in the crease" type of a look lately.

Face:
- SANA Isaflavone Makeup Base
- Silky Girl Skin Perfect Liquid Foundation
- JJANG Pressed Powder Foundation (to set)
- L'oreal Blush Delice in Rosewood
- Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

Eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- 28 Color Neutral Palette (top left color)
- 88 Color Regular Palette (light and dark purple)
- MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Engraved
- Za Cutie Curl Mascara;Volume in Black
- Canmake 4 Color Highlighter (3rd color from top)

Lips:
- Maybelline Shine Seductress in 203

What is your current "fall" look obsession?

Au Natural (LOTD)

By icyabstract · November 9, 2008 · 2 Comments ·

Today's look of the day would be the ultimate definiton of Neutral, since it seems like I have hardly anything on to begin with.
Aside from the fairly obvious liner which I still refuse to give up.
I guess doing tight-lining and all that is fab and gives great definition while making it look "unseen", but I loved my smoked out smoldered liner look too much to give it up, so here's my take on a Neutral look using very minimal items at that (only because I was in a rush).

(click on image for full quality. The compressed one makes my face look jagged, lmao)

Face:
EDM Foundation in Medium Beige Neutral (Original Glo + Matte)
Revlon Blush in Tawny Peach
ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

Eyes:
MAD Mineral Shadow Base
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Eyeshadow in Tiger Eye
Maybelline Unstoppable Smudge Proof Eyeliner in Black
SIlky Girl Lash Prism in Black

Lips:
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Shine City

I absolutely love how Mineral Foundation makes my skin look prettayeeeee.
Simple and fast neutral look using minimal and cheap makeup!
Thanks for reading. (:
