Adorebeauty's Contest Look: Nu Rave

By icyabstract · September 14, 2009 · 20 Comments ·

So here is my contest submission for Adorebeauty's contest in which we are to base our makeup look off of a neon-themed poster.
Although my inspiration wasn't quite Nu Rave, it was something that just came to mind when I saw the poster Diana had provided.
(you may check out the poster with the link provided above!)

Well, I tried my best working with what I have to get the slight NEON effect as I realized I don't actually have Neon-ish eyeshadows. Maybe I do have a bunch of bright colored shadows but I wouldn't categorize those as Neons so I definitely needed the help of cream shadow bases to boost the colors.
Nonetheless, here are the products used and photos.

Products Used:
FACE:
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation
Revlon Loose Powder (to set)
Canmake Color stick in 07 (under eye concealer)
Za Concealer Perfection

EYES:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in Lime
Silky Girl Funky Eyelights Pencil in Sky Blue
Canmake Color stick in 08
Lumene Double Ended Eye Pencil in Beach Life
88 Color Palette (matte/regular)
Noona Palette (bought from Batam, as seen in my Batam haul vlog on youtube)
Maybelline Gel Liner in Black (upper lashline)
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
L'ancome Fatale Mascara

CHEEKS:
Bright orange shade from Noona Palette (near the undereye area)
Silky Girl blush in Honeywood (cheek area, blending to ear)
Magical Tannsu Contour Blush Palette (contour)

LIPS:
Canmake Lip Concealer in 01
Orange eyeshadow from 88 Color Palette
Majolica Majorca Tubegloss in PK122

(Pardon my brows, didn't have much time to fuss with them)

For my cheek/blush application, I adopted a bit of a different approach.
I started applying the blush most concentrated on my undereye area, slowly blending it out as it progresses across the rest of my cheeks.
Like so:

You could say it's more of that 'wayang' effect.
I actually like the blush applied this way, if I'm brave enough, I might wear blush out like that one day!
Anyway, back to the look.

So as I had mentioned, with this color scheme, the term Nu Rave just comes to mind, thus I decided to throw on a head band and be a wannabe-rave-kid.

Okay so that was one massive picture spam.
I'm sure you are all bored of looking at photos of me so I shall let you all go now.

Thanks Diana for this contest as it sure was a fun theme and look to do!
