LOTD / Outfit: Inspired Mints, Bronze and Browns

By icyabstract · May 3, 2012 · 2 Comments ·

Boring title but it was either this or "What I wore to a wedding!" which was truly what I wore this look to but... well I opted for this title in the end.

Every time during a special occasion or event, I would often wreck my brains over what eyeshadow look to do, aside from the usual neutrals. Most of the time, I draw a blank and go with smokey purples, blues or moss which I love but a little change and variation can be fun too. With that, I thank Pinterest for being a great library of visual references.

I'm not awfully active on Pinterest but I like browsing, not necessarily re-pinning unless I really want to remember something. That said, this look was inspired by a photo I chanced across. I'll put up the photo later but do note that I didn't replicate it exactly, just got some inspiration off it.

Just because there was a good load of palettes mentioned I thought I would post which shades I had used from which. While I have mentioned whole palettes, I really only used 1 shade from each.

The squiggly lines are a bit of a mess but here's what went where.

Blue – 88 Metal mania color (above) with 'Float on A Could layered over
Champagne – champagne shade from Majolica Majorca palette, blended between blue and bronze
Bronzey Brown – A bronzey brown used from Majolica Majorca palette to blend the outerhalf
Dark brown – Dark brown from Wet N Wild to accentuate the Outer-v
Skintone Brown – From 28 color palette (not pictured) to blend the edges
HIghlight – From 28 color palette (not pictured)

After running through all that, here's the picture that I was inspired by but clearly this was done sooooo much better. I even contemplated posting it because it would make my look seem so blah.

I loved the minty green they used but I couldn't find that particular shade so I had to go aqua blue instead.

Just to throw it in, here's what I wore to the wedding. It's nothing new and you have all probably seen this outfit and these wedges mentioned a couple of times.

A bad habit of mine is that I rarely plan what to wear the night before so I often end up just grabbing and going with whatever outfit comes to mind.

Ending off, here's the beautiful bride for the evening, Clara! Check out that blinged-up gown!

Thanks for reading!

LOTD: MAC Teal Pigment

By icyabstract · February 7, 2010 · 15 Comments ·

Just a quick LOTD entry on the look I had worn to the Elizabeth Arden White Glove Extreme Pre-Sampling Event, which you can read about here. Wow, now that is a mouthful. That linked entry also features a little of my outfit so I shan't post my outfit on here since it would be posting the same picture up again.

So eversince I had gotten the MAC Teal pigment, I haven't had a chance to use it as I am reverting back to my neutral kick, but it's a super pigmented, bright and pretty shade. Not sure if I would wear it the same way again as though it is nice, it's a little default. I'll probably try pairing it with some other color the next time I use it.

Products Used:
FACE
Monistat Chafing-Relief Powder Gel
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation
Revlon Loose Powder

EYES
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MAC Delft Paintpot
MAC Teal Pigment
My own pigment mix
Rhomlon Black Eyeshadow
28 Color Palette (warm brown in crease)
Revlon Colorstay Quad in Nude Elements (highlight)
MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved
Majolica Majorca Lash Bone Primer
Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel.. Mascara in Black

CHEEKS
ELF Blush in Candid Coral
MAC MSF in Refined

LIPS
Make Up Store Lipstick in Invisible
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Toast To Shine

I've (finally) started using the Majolica Majorca mascaras starting with the Lash Enamel one (the one that promises volume) and I love it! I wouldn't think that with the comb-styled wand it would actually be able to provide decent volume and that it might just seperate my lashes too well and make them look sparse. Though apparently it doesn't do that.

In this look I wore it with the primer for an added effect, but I think without the primer it's a good everyday mascara.

Oh oh! And I am wearing that new Make Up Store lipstick. I really love how the color looks on, a nude with a hint of peach. I am pretty certain this is easily going to be a favorite of mine.

I have one more entry going up that is slightly related to the happenings on the EA event day, it's a mini haul entry (: I should have posted all three entries up in one day but I didn't have the time for it (and have been slacking off resizine the photos) so I am spreading them out a little.

And that should be it, thank you all for reading!

Super belated Lotd (tyra banks inspired)

By icyabstract · November 20, 2008 · 0 Comments ·

This LOTD was from the day that my computer had crashed. And honestly I was just about to hit the "Create Post" button before my computer hanged on me, so that definitely annoyed me a ton. However here I am, re-posting this entry once more.

I don't think I have ever mentioned this before but I am a fairly big fan of Reality TV Shows or America Drama Series such as Heroes and Pushing Daisies.
You're probably wondering what has that got to do with this lotd? Well, recently I was watching an episode of America's Next Top Model (Cycle 11, episode 12 to be exact) and during the judging panel, I noticed that Tyra Banks had on this very pretty teal smoked out eye look and I just had to do a recreation of that.

Here's a screenshot of the look. It's not the clearest image but it gives you a rough idea of what I had been inspired by.
Unfortunately, I did not have a teal color that was quite like hers, so I decided to use something sort of like it, but more blue-based then green.

Here is the look that I had came up with.
And honestly I don't know why I looked so "orange". It isn't my foundation... so I'm guessing it's the lighting because in person I look pretty normal.
And the colors look a little more royal blue then blue-teal but oh well, you get the idea.
